Over a year ago I returned from Shreveport, LA, where I went a little nuts by taking advantage of cheap computer parts available in Dallas: Frys and 1st Sat. When I drove away in a loaded rental I had 18 computers that ranged from 1800+ Athlon XP down to a Celly2-533 running at 802 MHz. I did all that in 18 months using lunch money (per diem.) When I got home I was not able to run all of them along with a few others that were already at home. I had the idle machines sitting in a row in my garage. David came over one day, saw the idle mass and offered to host them for me. He said that he was finishing off an area in his attic and would have the room. So, I let him take 4 systems and gave him one more for Donna's use.
Most of the time the systems were crunchin' under my name, but a few times people wanted to race with David and I let him redirect the output to his ID. Needless to say he won all his races! A few months back I got David to join with me and we rename my accoout to TeAm M&M. I did this to try and give him some credit for all the help he has given me. Well, that still doesn't seem like enough.
So, I am giving him full title to the systems still in his control to do with as he wishes. I am going to charge him $1 for the systems to make it a binding contract.
What I'd like for us to do is to continue crunching SETI until BOINC starts then decide what project to direct our resources. But, it will be up to David. He can keep em crunchin' or sell them as his needs dictate.
Thank you David for being a good friend and thanks to Donna for putting up with our DC madness!
