How do I tun off the password prompt when I install stuff? I know its a security measure and I would be better to leave it on but I dont like it. Also is there anyway to make the dock hide when a window is over it ( except for mouseover) and always show itself if there is nothing covering it?

Password prompt... I don't think that is possible. The closest you could come to would be to remove your user password and then just punch enter when it asks for your password. Best I can tell, if the software is meant for all users, an admin password must be entered, however, should it only be installing for that user, no password is required.

As for the Dock... no, not that i know of. Do you have the Dock set to auto hide? That is the closest that i can think of to what you want.

1. To turn off the password: go into System Preferences, Accounts, Change Password, and enter your old password, and leave your new password blank.

2. As for the dock, not sure if that can be done... I don't believe it can be done natively, there might be a 3rd party that allows to dock to be pinned to the desktop (so apps can show over it). I'll see what I can find.

im thinking about making a seperate partition for vista and then anoothher for media. I want the media partition to be accesible by both operating systems (4gb file sizes are frequent) is there some way to make either os read and write to the other's filesystem with the applications that are run ?

Get your hands on the MacFUSE project for OS X, this will let you read and write to NTFS, the default FS of Vista. Then, grab MacDrive (costs money) to install on Vista. This will let you read/write to HFS+, the default FS of OS X. Then you won't need a separate media partition, you can just use your existing ones. That was what I did when I actually had Windows installed.
