Office 2011 for Mac (specifically Outlook 2011) is the best IMO.

Pretty easily had for cheap as well if you dig around.

Company I work for has a employee program with MS and I know I can get Office for Windows or Mac for $30. I've seen it hit the deal sites for cheap as well.

Perhaps your current employer has a discount program as well if they're a decent size MS shop.

Are you talking about office 2011 calendar built into outlook? If so, I don't want to use that, haha.

I already have a very minimalistic office 2011 installed (excel, word, powerpoint).

$20 though? Does it handle google calendar better?

I wonder if I can gift it to you. I got it for free a while back from the dev's twitter account. I was hoping it would force me to use a calendar more :\

If you have any specific questions I can try them out for you.

My only question is does it work with google calendar nicely.

EDIT : That app looks to use iCal, so I think i'll run into sync issues still.
