I am working on a Mac that is runnin 10.3.9 and apparently needs 10.4.x to run our software. Can anyone tell me if there is a free and legal way to do this?

I clicked on the "update this mac" tab and downloaded all available updates that way. This is a customer's computer, so the advantages of 10.5 don't concern me. I just need to get our software installed.

Thanks

You'll have to get a copy via eBay. Once Apple comes out with a new OS, they stop selling the old versions. You might be able to contact Apple Support and get one, but at this time, you'll have to get it via eBay.

It's a full version update as well, so you won't be getting it free AND legally, unfortunately.

It may be worth it to upgrade the customer to 10.5. It will cost about the same as 10.4, and it will be a little more "future-proof"

I'm already running into a few minor snags with 10.4(Tiger). I'd say go ahead and get 10.5. Soon most software will require it anyway.

What are the specs on the Mac? My Dad just upgraded his iMac, with a 1.25GHZ G4 (1GB RAM) to 10.5, and it's running quite well. I would recommend 10.5 over an older copy of 10.4, in my experience it actually runs a little quicker.

Unfortunately, you're out of luck on the "free" front of things.
