Anyone know the best way to memorize the OSI model and what each layer invovles? I know one good accronym. "Please Do Not Take Sales People's Advice". I am still a bit foggy what is in each layer.

all

application

session
transport
network
datalink
physical

OSI model - live it, learn it, love it or be doomed to fail at networking.

I wanted to know if anyone knew any way to memorize what each layer consists of, some layers arnt that obvious at what they do. Just finshed Net+ and wait till im done with XP to take NET+ test.

The most I had to memorize for the CCNA was layers 1-4 (physical, data-link, network, transport), and what operates at Layer 7 (application layer).

OSI:
Away - Application
Pizza - Presentation
Sausage - Session
Throw - Transport
Not - Network
Do - Data-link
Please - Physical

TCP (DoD) model:
A - Application
T - Transport
I - Internet
N - Network
(Nita)
