OS X Snow Leopard, is it 64 bit?

Just looking thru the settings on my mini and was wondering if OS X is the same as windows. 32bit vs 64bit. I noticed under the "Software" submenu under system profiler, mine says 64bit kernel & externsions = no.

I am thinking the mini's hardware defaults this to "no".

So to confirm can OS X be 64 bit on the mini's and is there really any advantage to 64 bit as of right now?

I'm not sure but for example, my Macbook is 64 C2D, everything for the most part is 64 bit except the kernel.

its like windows 7 x64 - it can run both 32 and 64 bit. if it was only 64 bit...many many programs wouldnt work however...you can put snow leopard into 64 bit only mode if you want to!
