I'm posting this for someone else who is having issues with her OS X server.

Here's the problem, her root user got disabled somehow an she can't figured out how to re-enable it without reloading the OS.

I'm not a mac person but the way she explained it to me was this. The root user controls all of the other users an profiles, an the administrator account controls the root users information. Now she said she went in an changed the password on her root user, then another tech came in an tried to change it back using the old password, an somehow the root user got disabled.

So is there a way to re-enable this root user? so she can fix some corrupted user accounts

Sorry if the post seems scrambled, I'm really in the dark here an any help would be appreciated.

root user in unix/linux/osx is like the system administrator in Windows, to put it simply.

As for disabling the root user, I'm not sure how that can be done. I'm guessing the problem is that root is somehow blocked from logging in. Maybe using ssh to remotely connect to the computer and attempting to log in as root will let her in. She may need to connect as a normal user, the type "su" to login as root and enter the password. From there maybe there are some config files that can be changed. I don't use OS X, so I can't help much more than that.
