Fresh install on a 2011 macbook air and getting a good speed improvement, i had a very old install though.

Safari is working a lot better.

I just loaded up a whole bunch of apps and files and I noticed on my MacBook Pro with 4 GB that my Virtual Memory is over 4 GB, but it's still showing zero usage of the Swap. I guess that's because it's using RAM compression, something that wasn't available before Mavericks.
RAM compression scares the snot out of me. Too many bad memories of the late 68K days, with too many people using glitchy, slow RAMDoubler rather than a proper memory upgrade.:|

I seriously doubt Apple of all companies would release the new OS with a flaky, glitchy RAM compression algorithm. It's been a loooong time since those days!

problems with plex client after clean install, choppy playback
2010 mac mini: c2d 2.4 ghz - 8 Gb RAM - Geforce 320M

going back to Snow Leopard or Mountain Lion because worked flawlessly before

I finally upgraded from Lion this weekend on my 2011 MBP. Very smooth upgrade.

The power-saving changes are crazy and actually kind of un-welcome in this cold winter. I used to be able to put my fingertips up on the display hinge to warm them up. Now that area is merely lukewarm 🙂 Same with the bottom of the laptop; I used to be able to count on it to warm up my belly when lying in bed, but now it's mostly cool to the touch.

I've noticed that with many windows open 15" late 2013 rMBP 2.3/16/512/750m can get quite bogged down, really choppy ui animations (for example show desktop, mission control). Normally everything performs fantastically though. Both observations at scaled 1680

Running on the iGPU or have you forced the 750m?

Iris pro, although that is normally enough to give an experience identical to that of the 750m at 1680. I wonder if #of items to animate is a factor, had many partially overlapping windows. May also be related to CPU usage, which hovered around 25% (75 idle). No disk swapping occurred. Animations also became much more smooth after a few repititions.
