I have a G4 400 with 512 MB of RAM that has been sitting idle for a while. I have decided to run OS X on it since it meets the requirements.
I tried sticking the install disc for X in and letting it do its thing. It went through the routine fine until it came time to find the hard drive. No amount of coaxing would get the OS to find the hard drive to get going with the install.
I took the drive out and installed it as a slave on my PC. I ran IBMs (that's who made the drive) Drive Fitness Utility on it and got results back that were in the green. I went ahead and had the utillity write 0's to the drive so that there would be no question of a frsh start.
I stick in the OS X CD and get the same result as before.
The drive is the master on the bus by itself. The jumpers are set properly and I have power going to the drive.
Any ideas? I admit to not being a Mac guy but it isn't all that different these days.
Thanks!
