OS wont install?

I have Windows XP Home Edition Update and for the longest time it has given me trouble. For some reason I was updated too mucha nd couldnt install Windows XP Pro... So I formatted and installed Windows XP again and tried from there, but it says that i need my previous installion of windows to run this process? How do I get this installed. It works from my desktop then it restarts my comp then when it goes to setup it says that... and I cant delete partition to install new copy on, and I can install it OVER Windows XP Home but it says its not a good thing to do. Help me...plz

In order to install any Update/Upgrade version of Windows, you either need to install it over the top of an existing installation, or insert the installation CD for your previous version of Windows when it asks you to do so.
