OS question

Hey, I was wondering why noone ever mentions windows 95. Whats better, windows 95 or windows ME?

I saw windows 95 running on a cash machine once 😕 a was too drunk to work it though lol. Also, one more question, everyone talks about "98SE" what that? 98 special edition? or 98 second edition?

question 1....tough, I hate ME, but 95 was bad too....USB support (was in 95b, but was crappy) would make me choose ME over 95 for sure.

Question 2....Second edition

Except Linux. And BSD. And the occasional emulated 8-bit machine. And a few others.

Linux and all of the BSDs are actively maintained, supported and updated, the same can't be said for Win9X.

I would choose winME over win95. It should have better support for newer hardware, but no matter which of them you choose re-installs every six month or less is mandatory.

yeah nothingman, then why is it when I look over your shoulder it look like dos. ClI is sooo last decade, (Hope you read my sarcasm)

Ugh that's a tough one. As much as I dislike ME, Win95 was just awful by today's standards. I would have to say ME.

There's no telling who's shoulder you're looking over, you can't even manage to spell my handle right.

Ok then, 95 sucks. But for its time, wasent it pretty good for its time? I remember playing "hover" from the install cd and thinking WOW! this is so much better than "ball" which windows 3.1 had. Don get me wrong tho! ball was good! 😀

I never liked Windows 95.

NT on the other hand has been a fairly solid product since version 4 (and to some extent even the 3.x servers).

I would go with no version of windows that is not NT-based. NT-based versions are NT4, win 2000, Win XP, and Server 2003. Depending on what your hardware specs are, I would go with one of the above over ANY other version of windows (Win 95, Win 98, Win ME).
