OS killing system

One of the offices in Fairfax called today, and reported they are having problems with one of the computers in the office - It has Windows ME.

When booting normally, it will give an error about registry. (Partitions are all formatted, just out of the blue she got this error message)

We have it constantly booting into safe mode, which takes 30 minutes to get in.

Everything is being slowed to a crawl. Scandisk from DOS will not run.

We are letting it scandisk overnight.

Will this fix it? We have some very important files on that computer.

Still under warranty from Dell - But I need to give specific instructions, before the wipe the whole thing and haul it away.

What should I do?
