Orville Redenbacher's skimping

Looks like they've gone the way of most potato chip brands. I eat a lot of popcorn, and just a few months ago whenever I made a bag it would be filled to the brim with popcorn fresh out of the microwave. Last 10 pack I bought they were only half full when popped, so I assumed I'd just gotten a bad batch like in the past. Just opened another one, no such luck. Half the corn for the same price. :| Looks like I'll be switching brands for the first time in over a decade.

I noticed lately a lot of food companies have reduced the amount of product in their packages. Noticed today that the Reeses peanut butter eggs are smaller than they used to be. I don't really think it's because of the economy, but rather a way for them to make money. If they establish the name brand and offer less for the same price in the same sized packaging, they can make more money...

Edit: On the plus side, this could mean we're eating less. Always a good thing for Americans to eat less.

It's sold by weight, not by volume. Check the weight of the bags.

So corn has magically gotten twice as dense?

No, but you can verify that there is indeed less popcorn in there by comparing the weights of a new, skimpy bag to an older bag.

Nope, I have been on a popcorn binge for a couple of months now, and I eat Orville's "Movie Theater Butter" stuff, and the bag is full every time.

frito lay changed the amount of chips you get in a bad of santitas. The new bags say "$2 only" on them. but the reported net weight is at least 2 ounces(can't remember the old net weight) smaller.

the bags are the exact same size, as for chips Frito has a lot of new bigger bags for the same price. Look at the bottom of a pack before you put it in the microwave, it's going to be identical.

KLin those $2 bags are smaller, and they're like half the price. Did you expect a regular $3.79 bag of Santitas for $2? lol. $2 bags are perfect for people like me who want more than a $1 bag, and know if I buy the regular sized one I will probably eat it all in one sitting. The $2 bags are like 5.2 ounces which is a little over twice as big as the $1, and the big bags are 9-11oz and 18-20 for the family sized.

Wtf are you talking about? The 2 dollar bags are 14 ounces. Santita's are frito lay's lower priced chips. They were never in the 3.79 range, except for the family size bags.

Maybe your microwave just sucks. I haven't noticed any difference in the size, but I live in Canada where it could be different. Maybe they are just trying to help you fatties lose weight.

So an extra couple dollars every once in a while for more popcorn is something to get upset over?

When you eat about 5-20 bags a week, yeah.

Jesus Christ man.

I just buy it by the bag and use a pot.

Be careful with Orville bashing because Pepperidge Farm remembers!

Hahaha, everytime they make that joke in MST3K I can't help but laugh.

Have you seen a Reese's Peanut Butter Cup lately? Damn, they are tiny now. About what a bitesize would have been back in early 2000

Yep, this started happening last year when gas prices got crazy. Instead of raising the prices of the products, companies reduced the amount of food in the boxes.

I noticed my Drumstick last night was a lot smaller.
