Orlando: Friend bailed ***UPDATE*** Wow the Florida Keys are NICE:)

Sundog

I just flew into Orlando a couple hours ago on business. But will be here over the weekend. I was going to visit a good buddy of mine from College, but I just found out he has to leave today for a job interview in Baltimore🙁 Good for him, but bad for me. I would not have volunteered to make this trip knowing that he wouldn't be around.

So what to do? Can't exactly go bar hopping (my better half would kill me😉 ), and things like shows (Cirque de Soleil) and jetskiing etc. don't exactly seem fun by one's self 🙁

I am bummed...

*******************UPDATE******************3-3-2002 (Sunday evening)*****************

I went around Orlando for a while and then decided to do something totally spontaneous. I packed my bags and checked out of my hotel in Orlando and headed for Key West!🙂

I did not even have a map or know where I was going to stay.....just hit the turnpike and went!🙂 Stopped at a visitor center in Homestead to pick up some literature and went to Key West. Got there, ate some dinner, visited some nightclubs (the scenery was awesome😉 ). But there was not a hotel anywhere that had a room open.

So I headed back to Key Largo and spent the night there (I did not feel like sleeping in the car in Key West). Got up in the morning and went a snorkeling trip. Really fun!!!😀😀 Water was a little rough for some of the cuter passangers, and they ended up.....umm...feeding the fish if you know what I mean. 😉

Had a blast and was bummed when I had to leave to go back up to Orlando. I now know where some of my future vacations will be spent. If my plane tickets were not non-tranferable I would probably have called into work, taken some additional vacation time, and stayed in Key Largo.

😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀

WTF?! Bored in Orlando?! Get your azz to Universal Islands of Adventure and go on the friggin Spiderman ride until you figure out all the little tricks and then party on the citywalk for the rest of the night.

<< Hookers and beer... >>

/DOH.......you are going to get me killed, or at a minimum missing some vital body parts:Q

<< Play some golf. >>

Good suggestion, haven't played in 12 years since I worked at a golf shop. I might kill some one......

<< Universal Islands of Adventure and go on the friggin Spiderman ride until you figure out all the little tricks and then party on the citywalk for the rest of the night. >>

I wil look into the first part of that🙂

1. Orlando Science Center and Museum of Art
2. It's a way away, but the Kennedy Space center is nice
3. Attractions
4. Enzian theater
5. a gazillion malls and golf courses.
6. Lots of other museums.
7. Orlando magic game.

I had one free day in Orlando once and played golf. I was the only guy on the course. No one but me and the groundspeople. It was great!

I shot a 72 😉

<< I"m with Hanpan!

Woot! Boobies and Booze!!
>>

You guys are going to get me castrated and in jail😛 BTW.....2-3 beers and I am out! So if I drink it would be an extremely short evening!

Thanks for the info Corn 🙂

Just getting back from having a nice big steak😛🙂 Haven't had one that rare in a long time! Mmm, Mmmmmmmmm.......😀

I would say Citywalk, I-Drive, or Downtown Disney, but by yourself it's no fun. 🙁 I'll probably find myself in the same situation this weekend. I'm heading down there tomorrow but friends in Orlando are going to Miami.

<< Can't exactly go bar hopping (my better half would kill me >>

As long as you're only going window shopping, this is a case of "what she don't know won't hurt her." My GF can get the same way...jealous.

Go ahead and go to a nice-looking place with nicely dressed folks. No biker bars/college places. Strike up a convo w/some people. Talk about this and that. Look at the chicks. Play some pool. Play some CDs on the jukebox. Have some hot wings. Go back to the hotel and call the wife and tell her you miss her. Everybody wins.!

Exactly, no fun by yourself. And I am on I-Drive (I assume you mean International).

That sounds good, but where??????

the science museum is great, grab a paper tomorrow and check out the calendar section, see if they still do laser light shows in the planetarium...a great afternoon/evening, checkin out the exhibits, dinner at a nice lil place downtown, then a laser light show in a really great redone planetarium (shows used to vary by hour, not sure anymore)

as far as pool, look in the phone book under clicks - i think there is one on orange blossom trail (not very far from i drive), of course there are other things much more fun on south orange blossom trail, hanpan hit on those🙂

<< I dove on the Bibb that was in 130ft off Key Largo about eight years ago, nice dive. >>

Hehehe.....at first read I thought you meant a bridge naamed the Bibb:Q

I think I am going to get scuba certified for the next trip, seems like it would be awesome!🙂

It was choppy enough that I did get pushed down ontop of a pretty shallow reef. Got a little torn up by the coral, but I am not complaining at all......I loved every minute of it.😀
