Orinignal Thief 2...CD not detected?!

ok...i bought the original Thief 2 game (i know its old...but i jes gotta play sum game where i can sneak about)...installed...and tried to play...then i got this msg from my Win 2K saying that it generated an error and that it had to be shut down...and that i should restart the program....so i downloaded the patch...installed...but now when i click on the icon it says that it can't detect the cd...and that i should put the cd in my cd drive...???
any way i can solve this?...its an original cd too...hrmm...i'm lost

I do have the same problem with my NBA live 2000 and Thief 2.I don't know what happened and it required restart the pc until it works.I m using win98 and there must be some error for the software we installed.
