Only beef i had with origin was when i downloaded the beta it asked me if i wanted to update i said no cause it said it would play still but could have performance issues.

So the browser launch's and any mode wouldn't play cause now it want's to force the update that apparently was voluntary so i go to origin manually attempting to update and apparently the games up to date...after wrestling with it a hour i reinstalled the game and the second time it didn't ask if i wanted to update..it did the update by itself then i was able to play .

But now no beef with origin but yeah i flipped my lid big time with update bs...

Origin's been a pleasant surprise for me. This thread should be re-titled, "Origin sucks if you live in Namibia".

Well, Reading around on the net shows that a bunch of other people are having different issues.

So I should title it "Origin sucks if you live outside the USA"

Since I bought the game from origin, would there be any issues if I install the content from disc?

steam does the same. It hits you up for your maximum bandwidth when not gaming and stops it if you decide to play an online game.

Actually it stops id you play any game. That is the annoying part, as I tried to play some games while it was downloading, and playing any games on Steam would keep the service from downloading. I learned I had to play non-steam games if I wanted to download anything while playing.

You can alt-tab out of the game, pause the DL then resume it.

Having bought digital downloads from EA, I won't ever touch Origin with a 10 ft pole.

Initially I was skeptical because I didn't care for the EA Downloader in the past with digital titles (used it on games like BF2142, etc).

I have to say... it's working out fine for me.

I just rebuilt my rig this week, and re-downloaded Battlefield 3. Ran at a steady 2MB/s and was downloaded quickly. No problems getting things setup. I love how most things are saved in Battlelog so I didn't have to worry about setting up my favorites, and so forth, again. No problems with Origin at all to be honest.

No problems here with Origin. Do I like it though? No.

Steam is just as horrible anyway. They won't be getting any of my money until they fix the stuff they need to. Until then I don't care if a game is free. I don't hate Steam just dislike it a lot right now. They have done so many things wrong that should be fixed.

Prime includes free streaming and Kindle ebooks

There are paid stores for game downloads (PC), android apps, ebooks, music, videos, and for $20 a year you can upload your entire MP3 / AAC collection for use with their cloud player.

Their download store isn't anywhere near as fancy as Steam yet, it's more like GoG or D2D. And the streaming lacks the queue from Netflix, though people expect them to add a queue soon for all the new Kindle Fire owners.

So I bought BF3 on origin yesterday. Origin is the biggest piece of shit I've ever used.
I have to re-download the game cause it decided it would stop a 50% and start over. This devastating cause I can only download at 80KB/s. This isn't the 1st time this has happened. It happened with the beta too. Goes so far than starts over.

The friend's list is also broken as it shows me on my list of friends online, when I click on that profile, It's my brother's profile that Origin would give the same name as mine.

I don't even want to start downloading the game cause I'm so pissed off and it will probably do the same thing. Where the hell does it even keep downloaded content?

Let me tell you a story about my fun with Origin. I bought BF3 from Amazon. I start the process, it requires me to create an origin ID with my email. I do this, it installs, gets ready to launch the game. Oops cant logon to battlelog. I try this several times. Remember I am able to log into the origin client with this gameid, but not battlelog. So I request a password reset. It sends me to the page to reset it and asks me to create a gameid. I was like huh? So I do this and now the email is tied to this gameid, not the gameid I created that is using the BF3 cd-key. After a round of online support which told me to contact amazon. Like amazon had anything do with EA's effed up account creation. I had them call me. I talked to a guy, explained how I have a gameid that logs into origin but wont log into the game. He see's the two IDs, and gives me a new cd-key on the new gameid. Fine, sweet, I can logon using this to origin and it goes through some ridiclously long reinstall. So I launch the game and battlelog still wont let me logon. I got on the chat line and this guy somehow gets me on. Sweet! I fire up the campaign and see it work! Then I try muliplayer. Oh wow, it is now giving the error "Unable to logon to EA backend". Back on the chat, and this guy is hasseling me because I dont remember the effing birthday I associated with the account. Finally drive my point home and he does something on the backend that takes 30 mins. Finally get the game up and running.

I can not for the life of me believe they required this pile of shit to play one of the biggest games of the year. It was so bad if I hadnt bought the keys, I would never play the game again.
