Been downloading Battlefield 3 being a 20gb file,it has taken 1 day,9 hours,34 minutes to hit 65% first starting at 88kbps then it hit 113-118 and stayed there,i just watched it hit a whooping 223kbps and it stayed there for a good 5 mins before dropping back down to 113kbps.:|

My download of any other file on any other program or site can hit transfer speeds of 2.3mbps......when the download hit 220kbps for a minute there i almost had a heart attack, the download still has nearly 17 hours to go.:awe:

Edit:Mods please move to Pc Gaming,i made a mistake posting in GPU forum.

Should have canceled and restarted the download once you saw that it wasn't maxing your connection.

I had to re-download BF3 last week. Only took about two hours on a 25Mb connection.

Have tried this actually a couple times this week, same results as far as speeds go.

You don't need to stop it, just pause it, and then hit resume. It will restart the connection. But you should be able to easily max your connection. I downloaded DS3 last week (Part of the free game for simcity users) and I held at 25Mbps for just about the whole download.

According to EA, Origin has multiple download locations using CDN servers. Your ISP may be throttling their local CDN server, the one you are most likely connecting to. You can try one of two things to get around this:

1) Try OpenDNS or Google DNS servers, instead of your ISP's
Pause Origin download > manually change DNS server in network options > flush DNS cache (cmd > ipconfig /flushdns
) > resume download.

2) Try using a VPN server, eg VPNBook (free)
Total download speed will drop, but may increase for Origin download. PPTP is easier to setup, but OpenVPN may be better if your ISP blocks/throttles PPTP.
Network and Sharing Center > Set up a new connection or network > Connect to a workplace > New connection > Use my internet connection > VPNBook server address > Connect like you would a wireless network and disconnect when you are done

Origin is the same for me. I despise it, but love crysis, BF and MOH so have no choice.
Origin has been like that for every game since i started using it. every other program will max my connetion.

10 hours,17 mins till it is finished, sitting at 78% with 4gb to go lol.

Almost ashamed to make this thread, its just the biggest wtf i ever seen, been in front of this computer the majority of the day and Origin has honestly played just the tip with me,i saw a couple occasions of the download hitting even 240kbps for a minute then a immediately drop down to 113kbps....

Not sure still what the deal is but damn its a experience worth making a thread about,50 hours nearly to download a 20gb game?
