What about Big Picture Mode makes the experience of playing games better with it than without?

Because I can select the games and play them (or chat with friends, or install new games, etc.) all with my controller. It is a very console-like experience, no need to mess with the mouse and keyboard.

Seeing as how all my media runs through Kodi on the same system, and I can easily switch between Kodi and Big Picture Steam, I am able to play any movie I have or any game I have without touching a mouse once all in a ten foot interface. And it's so easy my wife could do it too, which is a plus.

In regards to my friends a console-like experience sold them on Steam overall. They were all ready to buy PS4s before I showed them Big Picture Steam. Most of them boot their gaming PCs right into Big Picture so it is like a console to them.

Never used big picture mode and I never got the ridiculous love for steam and valve. It's always been DRM and the sales are not a reason to love a platform imo. I don't mind Origin, but I only start it when I need it to play a game. It actually had features before Steam (custom install locations, for example).

Steam has always had more features than origin, has a bigger library of games, better deals and sales. Also Valve are privately owned and has shown nothing but respect for their customers over the years, they have no investors that they have a fiduciary responsibility to regarding providing growth of the business.

This is what makes public companies like EA such a nightmare, they screw over customers because it's simply in their best financial interest to do so, so they push customers as far as they're willing to go and only stop when it causes a loss of profit. Where as Valve is run by a bunch of people who actually seem to care, they do what is best to maintain a good relationship with their customers, especially loyal customers.

If you're going to have a large library of games then it's better to have it with a privately owned business in my opinion, Valve have proven themselves where as EA are pretty much universally hated by gamers for their constant shenanigans.

This is how I know you grew up without Blockbuster. $5.99 for one game for a month would have been amazing. Now you get 15 - granted you don't get to choose but you're also not being forced to subscribe. Assuming that only people that want to play one or more of these games will subscribe - which is only rational - this is an objectively great value.

There is no rotation. It is literally EA Access (a service on Xbox One) on PC. EA adds games and so long as your subscription is paid for the month, you can free access to them. I don't know about this one, but the Xbox service also gives you like 24 in game hours of early access to games releasing soon, though you still have to buy them unless they are added to the vault.

Too little too late EA. Steam has me hooked on buying hundreds of games for cheap I will never play. To me that is a much better deal than paying a monthly fee to access hundreds of games I will never play.

Well, okay, sure, but 30 days is quite a long time to try the games, maybe finish a couple and decide whether you want to keep going. BTW, this was posted on reddit by someone purportedly working at Origin:

I had EA Access on my XB1 for a year and didn't play much with it other than Battlefield 4, not really worth it if it's just for 1-2 titles. I'm into EA Sports games but man they've been getting worse and worse over the years so I'm giving up on that and with Battlefield, I buy them anyways rather than "rent" them.

Problem with games in the vault is that they may be removed later on. Just like how EA removed some games from EA Download Manager before.
