price and selection of games seems terrible.
$4.99 for Dragon Age Inquisition is terrible? PvZ Garden Warfare?

What about Big Picture Mode makes the experience of playing games better with it than without?

Never used big picture mode and I never got the ridiculous love for steam and valve. It's always been DRM and the sales are not a reason to love a platform imo. I don't mind Origin, but I only start it when I need it to play a game. It actually had features before Steam (custom install locations, for example).
Given the limited time frame of access you have it for, yes.

What limited time? So far there is no indication that the library rotates. They will always be there until they end the service. And if you want, you can buy the game and your save files will still be there.

Too little too late EA. Steam has me hooked on buying hundreds of games for cheap I will never play. To me that is a much better deal than paying a monthly fee to access hundreds of games I will never play.
That 4.99 only gives you a month, that would be a limited time.
