Organic food is not healthier study shows

File this under "duh". It's the biggest scam going where folks are convinced they should pay much more for a product just because it says "organic" on it. Or that it is somehow better or better for you. Also, organic does have pesticides on them.

"Some believe that organic food is always healthier and more nutritious," said study partner Dr. Crystal Smith-Spangler. "We were a little surprised that we didn't find that."

Evidence also showed that both organic and conventional produce were not 100-percent free of pesticides, though both were within the safety guidelines for pesticide limits. Organic produce is 30-percent less likely to be contaminated than conventionally grown fruits and vegetables, and children on an organic diet had lower levels of pesticides in their urine.

Because eating genetically modified food derived mostly from a poison company is more healthy.

And global warming also doesn't exist... our ozone is just shrinking w\ no repurcussions.

Also, the earth is flat and only 6000 years old.

That's reason enough to eat organic foods.

suckers.. but I do like any food without pesticides in it.. good thing i didn't waste money buying organic food and stuff

wow you are a lunatic.

whole foods has built a empire under this "organic is healthier" lie.

Whole Foods sells plenty of non-organic food as well. In general their produce (both the organic and non-organic kinds) is of much higher quality than teh stuff you find in regular supermarkets.

Lies?

Where are you people getting this from?

Just because there have been cases of non organics being passed off as organic doesn't mean organic food isn't better for you.

Would you honestly give your child milk that's got antibiotics and growth hormones in it if you knew better?

That's the sad thing about food really. Poor people have no choice but to buy the cheapest things available which inevitably includes foods full of gmo science experiments and meat pumped full of hormones and antibiotics because the animal couldn't live a normal live prior to slaughter and instead lived a life in it's own shit.

wow you are a lunatic.

Go research Monsanto. Maybe watch food inc and other documentaries that can enlighten you some. Come back later.

" The world according to Monsanto " is another priceless documentary that documents how the FDA is pretty much paid off in order to pass things that haven't been tested properly.

Your title is extremely misleading. Please correct it.

"Organic food is not always healthier for humans based on nutritional density metrics, study shows"

let me guess, you believed every word of "Bowling for Columbine" as well didn't you?

People have been genetically modifying food for thousands of years. That's what selective breeding is.

Idiotic response. Stop using this argument, because its not true.

Turning a black wolf into a little white pug over hundreds of years of selective breeding is not the same as making rodents glow in the dark.

How can you even tell any piece of fruit/food that does not have pesticides in it. I can ship whole foods a crate of regular apples and call it organic, unless you are testing every piece of food you put in your mouth, you can't tell.

For all you know, you can be buying regular apples label as organic with pesticides for years

Yes it is. It's genetic science. They're both causing the expression of certain proteins.

I tried inorganic food but my teeth wore down to nothing. On the other hand, vermiculite is way better than Sugar Smacks.

I am a huge hater of Monsanto.

BUT what you are saying is just not true.

The big issue that FDA is NOT testing is how the corn damages the soil, is causing the insects to adapt in ways we had no idea of, and what i consider the legality of them suing farmers and such.

the food i don't have as big a issue with.

It's well documented fact that Monsanto owns a huge amount of patents on seeds. Most corn you eat is likely Monsanto's. They're the friendly pesticide company that brought us things like agent orange.

There's also documented proof that a number of high ranking FDA plants have also served in high seats within monsanto and even ping ponged between the 2 while helping approve things that otherwise wouldn't be approved.

There's even places that have banned their corn like France.

And global warming also doesn't exist... our ozone is just shrinking w\ no repurcussions.

ozone hole is shrinking
Uh oh. It looks like scientists are now part of the conspiracy!

Of course there's no scientific reason anyone would actually think the ozone layer is getting smaller. CFCs were banned 23 years ago. Have you also heard of this new thing called the internet? I just got a 90Mhz Pentium computer the other day and it came preloaded with internet. It's amazing.

The grocery store "organic" (which I assume is what they tested in the study) is way different from what most people think of as organic, homegrown, fresh food.

There's no doubt that the produce you buy from the grocery store is far from ideal. It's grown in nutrient devoid soil supplemented with petroleum based NPK fertilizers, bred for taste/yield rather than nutrition, sprayed with pesticides, isn't fresh, etc. Your typical grocery store banana is basically a tube of sugar in the shape of a banana. It's all very "processed."
