I always found it odd that Oreos remained the same for like 90 years, then all of a sudden all these spinoffs came...

i remember double stuff as a kid, and that has to be at least 15 years ago. Along with mini-oreos and the big stuff oreo (the huge one).

Well, speaking of cookies, does Nabisco still sell those Chocolate Snaps? They used to come in these little boxes with like a bear on them...

Not really. Its still the same recipe, Oreos with more filling. You can't compare doublestuff to Mint and all that other crap.

No, they were called Snaps. They came in little boxes, brown was chocolate and red was chocolate chip...

If it is not the original product (recipe doesn't matter)...it is a spin-off. That is my definition of spin-off.

Who doesn't love Oreo cookies? Who?!
Me. I'm not a sweets junky, and I don't like them, at all. Aside from that, Nabisco is owned by the tobacco borg. I wouldn't buy a Nabisco product even if I liked it, otherwise. :disgust:

A recipe is what makes it original...

You still can't put doulbe stuff in the same league was whats out today no matter how you word it...

More filling than the original = spin-off product because it isn't the original product. It has more filling.

Double-stuff came out in the 70s. It took them 30 years to come out with different varieties.

Explain that...

I have no explaination for that. Maybe they thought they didn't need more spin-offs. I don't do their marketing so I'm not sure.

The double stuff came out in the 70s huh? Cool bit of info that i didn't know. 🙂

I find it kind of ironic that oreos are incredably bad for your health (loaded with transfat) and yet there is a diet/fitness ad in the middle of that article.

What I want to know is how in the world they pack 160 calories into just three of those cookies.......
