Statement from Ronald Green, Epstein Becker & Green, P.C.
Thursday October 28, 6:41 pm ET

NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 28, 2004--The Parties regret that this matter has caused tremendous pain, and they have agreed to settle. All cases and claims have been withdrawn and all Parties have agreed that there was no wrongdoing whatsoever by Mr. O'Reilly, Ms. Mackris, or Ms. Mackris' counsel, Benedict P. Morelli & Associates. We now withdraw any assertion that any extortion by Ms. Mackris, Mr. Morelli, or Morelli & Associates occurred. Out of respect for their families and privacy, all Parties and their representatives have agreed that all information relating to the cases shall remain confidential.

I bet the tapes will be out in a few days. I'm pretty sure O'Reilly would've fought this if there weren't any.

Burn baby burn!

Despite his consistently lascivious comments and sexual innuendos on the air, I've no doubt he's as innocent as G. Gordon Liddy was.

yeah O'Reilly would not have pulled his counterclaim if there wasn't some damning evidence.

a. There are DEFINITELY tapes - this quick settlement eliminates any doubt about that.

b. We'll never hear them - they are sealed in a safe in O'Reilly's attorney's office right this minute.

O'Reilly settling this case out of court just proves that he is guilty....like Michael Jackson.

Got to settle, basically buying the tapes. O'Lielly and M. Jackson are in the same class now IMO.

So what your saying is that if people are conservative they can't do this, but if they are liberal, you can do whatever you want? Why isn't it his 'own personal business' like every liberal who gets caught?

The problem is, she wasn't a willing participant. or perhaps she was and changed her mind, which is still his fault for picking the wrong person and not having a tape of his own.

No. It's more, you Republicans are soooo self-righteous and sanctimonious, it's always sweet justice to see you take a nice whack across the knuckles. :)

FYI, I'm pretty sure that as part of the agreement the tapes will be destroyed. In the end, this wasn't about politics at all. This woman wanted money to pay off debts, not to hurt the Right Wing media. She got what she wanted, and this is over.

If you were an honest and moral person.. you would judge people equally.. I think its wrong when both sides do this sort of thing.. But I think thats the difference between libs and conservatives.. Converatives will say its wrong even when their own does it.. Liberals won't..

Right and wrong is not a political ideology.. although some seem to think it is.. If its wrong for one person to do it, its wrong for everyone.. But I guess I don't expect you to understand that..

Sorry, but you couldn't be more wrong... People are people, no matter their partisianship. There are creeps on the left, and creeps on the right. There are outstanding people on the right, there are oustanding people on the left.

You're seeing partisanism that isn't there. I defy you to find a post by a liberal member in which he approves of a liberal committing sexual harassment.

Besides, as O'Reilly is so fond of pointing out, he's an independent, not a conservative.

wrong pal. Oreilly didn't file a counterclaim. He filed the original suit against her when her lawyer attempted to extort him. Her suit was the countersuit.

O'Reilly Harassment Case Settled Out of Court

By Claudia Parsons

NEW YORK (Reuters) - Fox News Channel commentator Bill O'Reilly and a female co-worker who had accused him of sexual harassment have reached an out-of-court settlement, agreeing to drop all allegations against each other, his lawyers said on Thursday.

The agreement brought an abrupt end to a sensational case that had turned the media spotlight on America's top-rated cable television news host, a darling of political conservatives and an outspoken proponent of personal morality.

The settlement, details of which were kept confidential, came a day before O'Reilly's accuser and her lawyer were due in court to divulge whether she had recordings of her telephone conversations with the commentator.

Andrea Mackris, 33, an associate producer for "The O'Reilly Factor," had sued the talk show host earlier this month, claiming he had repeatedly pressured her to engage in sexually explicit conversations over the phone, talking about vibrators, masturbation and pleasuring himself at times as he spoke.

She claimed O'Reilly and Fox News had threatened retaliation if she came forward with her allegations.

Anticipating the complaint, O'Reilly and Fox News already filed their own suit earlier the same day. The suit accused Mackris and her lawyer, Benedict Morelli, of trying to extort $60 million in "hush money" from him by threatening to go public with false allegations of sexual harassment.
