Those responsible:

Sponsored by Representative GREENLICK; Representatives BAILEY, BUCKLEY, DEMBROW, FREDERICK, READ,
REARDON, TOMEI, Senators BURDICK, DINGFELDER, HASS, MONNES ANDERSON, MONROE, SHIELDS,
STEINER HAYWARD

I'm relieved that no representative I voted for is associated with this thing, if you live in Oregon and yours is take note.

This bill bans most modern firearms and magazines, requires that you register the ONE gun you will be allowed to own and allows for warrantless searches of your home.

This bill was introduced 2 days after Organizing for Action visited Oregon. I don't know if they had any part in it, but the timing is uncanny.

Shoosh!

(2) Subsection (1) of this section does not apply to:
(a) Any government officer, agent or employee, member of the Armed Forces of the
United States or peace officer as that term is defined in ORS 133.005 if that person is otherwise authorized to acquire or possess an assault weapon or large capacity magazine and
does so while acting within the scope of that person’s duties;

(b) The manufacture of an assault weapon or large capacity magazine by a firearms
manufacturer for the purpose of sale to any branch of the Armed Forces of the United States
or to a law enforcement agency in this state for use by that agency or its employees, provided the manufacturer is properly licensed under federal, state and local laws; or
(c) The sale or transfer of an assault weapon or large capacity magazine by a firearms
dealer licensed under 18 U.S.C. 923 to any branch of the Armed Forces of the United States
or to a law enforcement agency in this state for use by that agency or its employees for law
enforcement purposes

What good for the goose is not good for the gander.

EDIT: This can't for real. Reads like a bad dream 🙁

(3) Any person who, prior to the effective date of this law, was legally in possession of
an assault weapon or large capacity magazine shall, within 120 days after the effective date
of this 2013 Act, without being subject to prosecution:
(a) Remove the assault weapon or large capacity magazine from the state;

(b) Sell the assault weapon or large capacity magazine to a firearms dealer licensed under
18 U.S.C. 923 for lawful sale or transfer under subsection (2) of this section;
(c) Surrender the assault weapon or large capacity magazine to a law enforcement
agency for destruction;
(d) Render the assault weapon permanently inoperable; or
(e) If eligible, register the assault weapon or large capacity magazine as provided in
section 4 of this 2013 Act.
(4) A person acquiring an assault weapon or large capacity magazine by inheritance, bequest or succession shall, within 120 days after acquiring title, without being subject to
prosecution under this section:

So which party wants to come into your bedroom again?

Another day, another attempt by the liberals to take away people's guns. They should be ashamed of themselves.

It's sad but the Dems have finally found an issue where they can be as despicable as the Republicans were with Iraq, indeed worse for their blatant disregard of responsible citizens rights. Perhaps a it's time for a little rebellion.

While I agree with you in respect of how disgusting this bill and iraq BS was/is, I have little faith in a populous so addicted to the government tit would ever bite the hand that feeds.

yea, no.. until the Oregon State House kills 4,000+ U.S. soldiers and causes the deaths of however many tens of thousands of other human beings, the score is still a bit lopsided. At the federal level the "worst" they are really trying to get passed is universal background checks

The idea that the attempt to exercise one amendment (the second) should be grounds for removal of another (the 4th, no warrantless searches) is incredibly absurd. I would have expected better from Oregon; although it is pretty strong blue for presidential elections I always thought of it as more moderate than, say, CA.

I assume this is more symbolic than something that would actually pass but need to look into it more.

Both parties suck. One wants to restrict your gun ownership. The other party wants to give your money to the top 5% and tell you what you can and cannot do with your penis or vagina.

what happened to staying out of peoples homes liberals?

What happened to all that talk about not taking guns away?

BS lies. your true colors are shining through with this bill.

wow..

is this a mistake too? how are dems going to spin this one? they get to search your home with this.

shit like this is going to push more to the NRA.

no entering my home, no confiscation.

Just days after a meteor devastated some of the Russian country side, a massive gun bill had crushed a house in Oregon. News at eleven.

I'll go out on a limb and guess these are Portland metro and maybe Eugene districts. If this is what Portland wants then they should enact it at the city level.

It seems like there was a cascade effect. We had smooth sailing for years after the AWB expired, no one talked about gun control. Obama brings it up and now democrats everywhere are rushing to fall on their swords.

What are you complaining about? Owning a fire arm is optional. So is the warrant less search. Amirite? Or is that only for double trans-vaginal wanding.

Although that also might be an issue here. I think subsection 5 requires trans-vaginal wanding for all gun owners.

A rather ironic couple of statements here.

This is "as despicable" as the Iraq War? Well, I don't support it, and I don't support these sorts of bans in general. But it is nowhere near the Iraq War in terms of the lives lost, money wasted and damage done to the country as a whole.

Why wasn't it "time for a little rebellion" in 2003? Oh right -- that was back when you had to support whatever the government did or you were "with the terrists". GOP played that one well.
