Hey, Which states are going to be contested because of a very small margin of victory? I heard the New Mexico & Iowa may be recounted.

Cheers,

Thought that Oregon was still counting votes. I know that Gore's ahead, but he hasn't won it. Are you one of those Gore fanatics?

Defrag,No I am not. And I'm not a Rush Limburger, Shrub Ars licker either.

Harry Browne didn't get elected and didn't have a prayer, and I think Bush is a failed oil business man fully funded by oil special interests and I think he is a bafoon.

So I picked Gore, lie and all.

Neither of us has room to brag about either candidate. They both suck, and which ever idiot gets the job will wish that he hadn't as soon as he realizes he has no mandate to govern with such a puky response in the polls.

Whats the county going to do,choose up sides? No.

Do you believe Bush can unite? If you do,you live in the twilight zone, not here with the rest of us.

But this is the best drama in my 50 years. I love watching this game better than my sports teams. The Spin and sniping by both sides on TV and the mirror image of both of them is hilarious. I can not tell you how many times I have been accused (wrongly) of hypocracy. Republicans have given new meaning to the term. Just look at the aftermath of this botched election.

I find it funny that if anything goes over good for the Republicans that Mr. Stringham is all over it like flies on sh!t, yet if anything swings in Al Gore's way favor only has a smart remark to make...:Q

I used to live in Oregon. Bore had it won before the election even started. The only reason it took this long to finalize is because the state is full of Nader wienies.

And if it wasn't for Nader, Gore would be making appointments for his cabinet about now...

It would be very interesting now!! Gore if winning New Mexico in recount will have a total of 269 EV while Bush winning Florida on the recount will have 271 EV, close very very close!!!

And, if it weren't for Perot, Bore would never have even been in this race.

Thank God for Nader, the only thing saving us so far from four years of being Gored.

Come guys, let's not fight over this again. Let's get ready to party to celebrate Bush's victory as the new President. FL is the only state that matters now. I just got a free plane ticket to Austin next week to be at the Governor's mansion to celebrate his victory.

Florida recount is triggered by law b/c less than 1/2 % margin (or whatever the # is); the other potentially contested states don't have that law and the "loser" must ask for the recount.

db,

Actually, every state has an automatic recount threshold. I don't know what the number is, or whether or not those that are in play have hit that threshold. But, they all have a similar law.

Russ: True dat about Perot.

In IO, WI and NM, the candidate has to request the recount and in NM (maybe others), has to pay for it. It would be about $75,000. Small change for 5 electorals.

Soooooooooooooo close........

Yes, Oregon went to Gore and is a higher electoral count than New Mexico, but no other state has picked the winner in a Presidential race in recent history more than New Mexico. It's fate. :D
