should i get the 17" because it uses aperture grille and has high refresh rate?
they cost the same after the rebate.
any suggestions?

what price are u trying hit. i personally wouldn't buy a philips. we sell them at work and i really don't care for them at all. a decent NEC FE700+ can be had for under 200

thirdeye, sums up my point of view quite nicely, if I were you I'd go for an NEC monitor if price is a major factor.

I went through that specmanship stuff when I last upgraded my monitor.

Should I get the Samsung 955DF or the higher scanrate NF version?

I got the 955DF. I never run with resolution greater than 1024X768, and it's just fine for games and great for reading text. I'm very pleased with the Samsung 955DF.

Hope this helps!

the only thing that the 955df is bothering me is the really thick glass it has on the screen.
It makes the picture looks very strange.

uncle wai...

what sort of monitors have you worked with... to say that 955 df is an ordinary monitor?

as long as you don't need to go above 1280x1024...
you can get 75hz or more.

just 'cause you can grab one of these monitors for around 200.... doesn't mean that it's an ordinary monitor.

i use sony fd trintron at work and 955df at home.
they are both good in my opinion... and nothing ordinary about them.
