Here it is, help me make some last minute check-ups. I'll be ordering from both Monarch and Newegg.

Monarch:
DFI Lan Party UT NForce4 Ultra-D Audio/GB
AMD Athlon 64 3000+ 512K 90nm

Newegg:
Corsair Value Select (Dual Pack) 184 Pin 512MBx2 DDR PC-3200
Western Digital Special Edition 80GB 7200RPM IDE Hard Drive
Lite-On Black 52X32X52X16 Combo Drive
Logitech MX510
XTracPads X-Trac Pro HS Optical Mouse Pad
MSI nVIDIA GeForce 6600GT Video Card, 128MB DDR3, 128-Bit, DVI/TV-Out

$763.16

What do you think?

Looks like a decent mid range gaming rig there..

However, the 80GB western digital seems abit small these days.

The 80GB 8MB cahce WD were a big thing two years back , but not anymore..

You could also try and save abit of money by not getting a NF-4 Mobo. a NF-3 is good nuff or even a via. (do this if you are on a budget)

I have a samsung 80gb it is a bit loud when loading. Its very old! wd, seagate is more prefered.
Either get that for now and when you move to pcie get a better one.

I'd drop the nForce.

Chinoman: It looks to be a pretty good machine. Do you have a case and psu? Is the video card PCI-E or AGP?

n0cmonkey: Just for reference, what is a good chipset for a linux system?

i'm not n0cmonkey.. but until nforce drivers mature on linux, VIA is about the only sane way to go.

nVidia should open up a bit before I'll recommend them. VIA, AMD, and Intel are all good choices.
