Hey, just wondering if anyone else who has ordered from IBM recently has had this problem. I ordered 3 x41 tablets with the docking station, case, sleave, extra memory and dvd burner. Last Wed., the 24th, I get three packages, thinking each one is a laptop with the extras, well turns out, I got the docking stations, cases, sleaves, extra memory and dvd burners, but no laptops.

I figured, I'll wait a few days and they'll come in. When they didn't come Monday, I started to ask around and eventually purchasing told me they have spoken to IBM and they were "awaiting to be released from customs." I've never had this happen before and am wondering if anyone else has had this problem? I didn't think customs would hold onto them for this long, I thought they just checked shipments and let them through.

Its not a "problem" per say, its the customs system taking extra time to make sure you aren't ordering nuclear bombs ;) Just wait it out

Yep I am the guy who was cursing in the bottom of this thread due to the fact that , not only I had to wait for 2 weeks for my thinkpad to ship form Shanghai, but they are holding it at the customs for like like 4 days now , I called Lenovo and they told me that the issue is normal that the customs will hold international shipments for routine invistigations...blah blah blah. :disgust:

Strange, I guess this is due to the shift to Lenovo and shipping from China. Sucks though, never had this problem with any of the Dells I ordered because they all ship from within the States. We're still waiting for our IBM purchasing site to come online since we just signed a contract with them, but this is putting a damper on the excitement of ordering something other then dells.

No... Lenovo is still making product in other places.... ie; Korea.... They inherited manufacturing agreements and still have yet to bring much of the TP and TC family internal to manufacture. -and that doesn't mean it will all be made internal looking forward as they struggle to increase volume production.

Part of the problem at the moment is supply... period. Can't make enough to keep up with sales..... but that's better than sitting on a ton of costly inventory as well.

All I know it's been a week and a half since I got the rest of the parts, and I'm still waiting for my tablets. I got a thin client from them within 2 days of ordering it...

Just another data point:

T43 ordered for my wife (at about the same time) came in well ahead of the "ship date" IBM gave us.

Too bad she hates it (does not like the keyboard of all things) and it's probably going right back to china.....
