I just ordered the parts for my new computer, just thought id let you guys in on it.

Gigabyte GA-8IHXP
Intel P4 2.26/533
2 x 256MB Kingston 1066 RDRAM
Visiontek GF4 Ti4600
SB Audigy

Well thats the new stuff, im keeping my ibm drives, and my burner and dvdrom...

What do you think of that setup?

It's nice, no doubt about that. But maybe you could've done better in price...
With it not being my money, I had to order it. However, I could configure every part, right down to the IDE rounded cables (from Cyberpower PC). I got the Antec SX1040 w/ cathode and window, XP 2000+, 512 MB PC2700, MSI KT3 ULTRA ARU, GF4 Ti4200 128Mb, with maxtor 80gb ATA133 and office keyboard and wireless intellimouse explorer, along with a few other things, shipped , for under 1100 dollars.

Now, granted, my video card isn't as fast (adding 150 dollars or so), buy the XPs are so much cheaper...
Maybe that isn't important to you...
Also, the Audigy X-gamer would've cost me a total of 80 dollars, but I like the Hercules Game theater XP, for just a little more. I can stand the onboard audio (very good, or so they say) for a month or two.

I have two AMD XP systems, 1700 and 1800. I decided to go P4 from the good things i read about the 533 bus (1066 rdram).

Sounds good. Bad news though....
There might be different opinions around, but there's hard evidence that of right now, the 533 is performing no better than the 400 fsb does. PC world did a test between the 533, 400, and the XP. The XP (2000+, I believe) beat the 2.4 Pentium4 hands down, in both versions! Only the 2.53 has been able to beat any XP. Who knows....something will improve.

Quake must be the exception....On most everything, the XP is at least able to beat it's equivalent. How does the 2200 not even beat the P4 2.0? It doesn't make since. Anyways, I'm prone to believe the magazine.
