Yeah I know, I was comparing the 6800 to the X800 Pro, which does not. I would rather have the 6800, because of the memory and the fact that I might be able to unlock it. It's faster out of the box too.

Slower clocks than the AGP 6800 (325/300 vs 325/350). And no guarantee you can unlock the pipes.

Assuming you're talking about "Computer 2" in your sig, I would think you're better off with dual 6600 GT's for very little more. That is unless you can wait for a "true" GT to come in stock.

I don't know..I'm not waiting much longer, I want to use this computer. I've already been waiting for months. I just returned two 6600GTs because of the memory bandwidth bottleneck so I don't think I'm going that route again (already lost $60 from it). Next year I'm going to buy a new card so is there any compelling reason not to get the 6800 versus spending a lot more on the 6600GTs which may be bottlenecked? If I can unlock it it's still good performance and twice as fast as my 9500 PRO. Thanks for the opinion.

What settings are you going to be wanting to play games at? AA? ? AF? Resolution?

1280x1024 certainly (my LCD native res), as high as possible on the AA and AF. Probably 16x AF and 4x AA, I may turn down some mipmap texture quality settings or bumpmapping if I have to. Oh $%!%, I can't unlock that NV41 PCIe 6800 can I? Only the NV40 AGP card can be unlocked, correct? Keep in mind I am going to be buying another card next xmas, most likely. Thanks for the help!

6800GT 128MB > 6800 256MB

Many are able to OC the GT to Ultra speeds. One can find a GT 128 for about as much as a non gt 256 if not less.

It's out of stock, and it's not PCIe :(. That looked like a really promising option for a second even though it has a partially broken PureVideo.

So I guess it's order time for the Leadtek 6800 NU? :) I'm not too worried about performance because I'm getting another card next year (NV48 or R500). Chances are Quake IV won't come out this year anyway :Q. Can someone confirm if I can or can not unlock the pipelines on this card?

Yes. Spend $100-$150 more for preformance gain (or loss) that you will _bearly_ notice.

If money is no object, dual 6800 U.

Well, within reason. I meant above $350 is too much. I don't mind spending $343 over $200 was what I was saying, haha. Thanks for all the opinions, is it time to click that "Order" button?

You'll be happy Im sure with it. If it were me though, I would look for a 128 MB and 256 version. If the differance is over $50 go for the 128. Any preformance differant simply isnt worth the $50-100 differance that Ive seen and is along the lines of %10 _maybe_. You dont start noticeing differances till you get up passed 20% as fast as these boards are pumping fps!

Start saveing now for that future dual 7800GTX ;)

Oh, the heck with it. I ordered it. I just can't wait any longer. Next time I sell my house the 7800 ultras will be the first thing I will buy. Thanks again ;)

Let us know if you have any success in unlocking that card. I am thinking about getting two of them for SLI.

Not sure if you already bought the card (I am sure you have), but for anyone interested--and living in San Diego, there's a place called Mictrotron that sells the Leadtek PX6800 PCI-express video cards (it's not the LE version) with SLI for $195 each. At that price, it's cheaper than many 6600 GTs.
