I was pretty sure they'd all arrive yesterday. I got my motherboard, got my CPU, got my ram, and got my new graphics card.

But I was waiting... Waiting on one package. The SSD. It's essential too because I can't fucking do anything but stare at the BIOS screen. I don't want to format my old HDD (it has a lot of important data) or try to install Windows over the current install. It won't boot up Windows either. It just crashes and it can't automatically fix the problem itself.

So, I'm stuck here... Waiting. Waiting for my SSD. I waited yesterday and then finally tracked it down and saw, "Scheduled Delivery Day: October 1, 2013". I was horror struck for a bit, but I thought, "Tomorrow! TOMORROW, GLORY WILL BE MINE!"

Been waiting AAAAAAAALLLLLLLLLL fucking day! ALL FUCKING DAY.

Fuck you, USPS. And fuck Newegg for fucking that shit up.

Install GNU/Linux to a thumb drive. The download would take longer than the install, and you could have the machine up and running before 1:30am EST.

Today, it finally upgraded to "in transit" and saying that it was at a local post office. Called USPS and they told me they could do nothing. (I wanted to do customer pick up) It also updated itself to say that it was scheduled for delivery for today...

I went down to the actual post office and asked a guy if he could do anything. He said, "It should be out for delivery." Yet, 2 packages from USPS and my mail has already shown... but my package (with my SSD) has not shown up.

About an hour later I go down there and ask him again... tell him of this new information. He says, "Oh, yeah. We totally do multiple drop offs. You probably just had the first guy show up. Here, let me call one of our guys who does the route you're on and ask him." Calls him up and asks if he's been there yet. The guy says he hasn't and that he's pretty sure he has something for that address.

Good customer service from that guy. I like him. He said it'll probably be at my place around 5:30-6:00PM tonight. But, still. We'll see.

Always what happens when I built a PC.

CPU: one package
Motherboard: one package
Ram: one package
Hard drive: one package
case and maybe a few other accessories: one package.

If I'm lucky I might get the motherboard, cpu and ram in one package. And of course, half of it always gets backordered and I have to wait months.

Waiting on a single part sucks. I had that happen with this computer. I had every single part except the mb, so I couldn't even start on building it. The real pissoff was I ordered it with the understanding that it was in stock. Turns out it wasn't, and there was no estimate when it would be. After dicking around with cs(buy.com maybe?), I finally got my money back, and ordered it from Newegg. They were trying to deny me a refund, even though it was sold under incorrect pretenses. Pissed me off. I was ready to send it back, and contest the charges if it showed up at my house. I guess they did something right, cause it never did. Either that, or they never got it in stock :^D

Sounds like a perfect opportunity to run Memtest86+ while you wait. May as well test out the new gear.

Yeah no HDD would be one of the best case scenarios as you can still build the whole machine and it will take 5 minutes to just add the HDD after. I would take this time to run memtest and other tools. If it's like my luck, it's almost 100% guarantee the ram or something will be bad and need to be RMAed.

Or you can just install on a spare hard drive then image it to the SSD once it comes in. That's probably what I'd end up doing. Heck, could even go grab one of the hot spares from my server. LOL.

My USPS "scheduled delivery date" just went back in time. It's now saying October 1st.

Fuck you, USPS. I better get the package today by 3:00PM or I am bringing hellfire missiles to your local office.

First world problems.

There's a starving lil TridenT in Africa wondering when his bread will be coming and why the water he drinks makes him piss out of his ass.

I had a UPS tracking number for some ammo that was apparently also used a year ago for something else.

It's intriguing seeing a 10/2/13 ship date and a 12/10/12 delivery date.

very annoying and understandable. however, it'll be there when it gets there. get that SOB looking good and start hiding all the wires.

it can always be worse.

But you don't need a case to have the system working. I've run my computers without cases before. Works perfectly fine.

No SSD means I can't install the OS. I just get this damn TEASE of an experience.

Already did this. Kind of pointless anyway since none of my case fans are going to be on. My old motherboard (Asus Rampage Formula X48) had 8 connections to plug fans into and control. This one? 3. I think only 1-2 of them actually work at controlling speed. I have 4 case fans and 1 cpu fan. Can't even plug in my case fans because they just run at full speed. So, I have to either not use my case fans (because it'd be too loud at full speed) or buy a fan controller (~$40 for a decent one. >_<)
