So I broke down and ordered the 120gb 360 HD because my 20gb just aint cutting it anymore. I read on the xbox site that you can only do a one-time transfer of the 20gb data to the 120gb hd. I was wondering if before I transfer the data (apparently it will erase the 20gb drive) if I should leave it running for a few hours just to make sure its not defective. Also, if there are demos and stuff on the new drive, will it be wiped out? The site said no at one point and at another point said yes. So, which is true? MS really sucks with the info.

FYI you can get 20-30 bucks for that transfer kit on ebay. I put mine up expecting 5-10 and I ended up getting 32 bucks

It's only free if you bought an elite. If you just bought the 120gig HDD it's not.

I bought the retail hd, comes with the kit already plus a bunch of demos and a game or so. Just want to know if I should use as is for a bit to make sure its not gonna croak with all my transferred data on it.

Just bought one as well. Will be looking to sell my 20gb and the transfer cable once I no longer need it to hopefully offset some of the cost. :)

Well, the instructions say NOT to use the 120gb HD before transferring the data from old drive because what ever is put on new drive will be wiped out. I dont care. I am going to run the new HD for a few hours. I am not going to risk the drive being bad after I transfer and it wipes the original HD and I will lose it all. Anyway, they say to throw out the cable after use. Yeah, right.....Im gonna sell the cable, the 20gb HD and the cd to offset the cost like tdawg stated. :)
