Ordered a KT266a yesterday.....

Well, being as I just couldn't turn down one ot these for $89.00, I ordered a Shuttle AK31A 3.1. Now, just how will it compare with my K7S5a's? Is it worth $25.00 more? And, will it work with my new Audigy soundcard? Will I get fed up with 4 in 1's? Will I start O/C'ing again? Stay tuned..... 😉

i personally dont mind the VIA 4-in1's. It kind of seems like continuous technical support for free 🙂 .

I dont know much about Shuttle, but i'm sure you could have got a better make.

UKDave, I am very familure with 4 in 1's...thats the main reason I got the K7S5a.....I'm not a big believer in Via, to be honest. As far as the brand, while you may not be familure with Shuttle, I am and I feel that that are as good as any of the second tier manufacturers.... such as Epox, Iwill, MSI, etc. The question is, will I, who doesn't care too much for the quality & support of Via to begin with, be impressed enough with the KT266a to let Via back in my computer room. Again, stay tuned.....😉

I also took the KT266a plunge...Athlon 1.4 TB 266, 256mb Micron DDR, MSI Starforce822 Gf3, Shuttle AK31v3.1 mobo.
The Mobo is backordered a week(np).
My reason for upgrading is a nice tax rebate.
I currently have:
Gigabyte GA-60mm7e (Onboard 850i disabled)
P3-700ep@876 (gotta love EasyTune III)
Leadtek Winfast Gf2 64ddr
256mb Corsair pc150
Creative SoundBlaster Live! X-Gamer 5.1 (transfering to Athlon System)
17" Pixie Monitor (transfering to Athlon System)
Advent Sub/Surround (transfering to Athlon System)
Lucent Winmodem (transfering to Athlon System)

Gigabyte GA-5smmf7
K6-2 550
128mb pc100
Voodoo3 3000
Onboard ESS Allegro Solo-1
15" Monitor

P3 is getting handed down to kids...no O/C
K6-2 is being given to Mom (72 yr. old Email Lunatic) with a 75mhz! Pentium...

Hopefully this system will ROCK!!
And everbody gets an upgrade...woohooo!

If anyone runs SETI@home on the KT266A (as in, the CLI client with SETIDriver), could you pop over to the Distributed Computing forum and post what kind of work-unit times you're getting? I'm doing about 4.6 hours per WU on average using a 1.4Tbird/K7S5A combo and I'm wondering if the KT266A's memory controller will make a faster SETI machine.
