Ordered a 7600 GT on Friday! Got the eVGA CO edition from newegg, $185 and a $15 MIR. Has anyone seen benchmarks between it and the X850 XT, yet? They seem to be the comparable cards between NV and ATI for the price. A friend of mine has the X850 XT, and we were thinking of running some benches if anyone's interested. If we did, would it matter that he has an Opteron 146 and I have an Athlon 64 3200? We both have a gig of RAM clocked at 333, for overclocking. We'd do the tests with CSS stress, FarCry, and UT2004... maybe Chaos Theory. Lemme know!

The 7600GT is easily the best -$200 option available right now, from either ATI or nVidia, so it's definatly not a bad choice. Have fun!

Glad I made the right choice... I'm thinking about stepping up to a 7900 GT/CO in a month or two (made a little profit on a 9800 Pro: sold for $75), since the offer is there, and I have this nice Antec 500 watt SmartPower 2.0 that would otherwise go to waste. I'll be sure to put the benchies up once my friends and I compile them. Any other games worth testing?

Yeah, before the prices on the 7600GTs went down (they were >200 when they first came out), I would have recommended the X850XT (then only $154). Now, though, with the two nearly equal in price, I would definitely say that the 7600GT is a better pick-It is quieter, draws a lot less power, and is just as fast as the X850XT. The only downside is that it does not have much OCing headroom on the stock cooler. With the OC'd eVGA you got you will have about 40MHz of OCing room at the most (620 Core) on the stock cooler.

Great choice. I think it has Shader 3.0 support so for the money I don't think you could have went wrong.

Well nothing new here.. It is by far the best choice at the 200$ price range..

Got the MSI NX7600GT to replace my ASUS EN6800GT with falling heatsinks as an option :p and let me tell you it's worth it plus the 7600GT is 80CAD cheaper than the 6800GT, at least here in Quebec City.

Great card!

with
athlon x2 3800+

I think so. My RIG runs games at 1280*1024 so yours can certainly run them in 16*12.
