|

or

I'm no expert, but I'd run it like this:

120V outlet
|
Surge protector
|
Line conditioner
|
UPS
|
expensive computer equipment in the lightning belt

UPS can get fried like any other piece of electronics, unless it has its own built-in surge protector.. in which case why do you need another surge protector? Ditto line conditioner.

Hmmmm, yup, the primary goal is to do as much as possible to protect against frequent lightning strikes and you are right, better a surge protector go than the UPS or the line condx.

This. It's actually really bad to plug a surge protector into a UPS. I can't quite remember why, but I really don't feel like looking it up right now.

I concur. Put the surge closest to the outlet.

are you trollin' or looking for the better answer.

Most of the time if you are using a proper UPS it does conditioning and surge suppression.

A uber line conditioner can be placed after it though.

When the UPS kicks in and starts spitting out modified-sine-wave AC, the surge suppressor will see this as what it is: A very noisy sine wave. There is then risk of damage to its filtering circuitry as it attempts to adjust the square wave to something that still won't even vaguely resemble a good sine wave.
