I had to abort my one-and-only WU at 53% and 6h 6m into the crunch. It just sat there doing nothing!

We’re currently investigating an issue related to the forum theme and styling that is impacting page layout and visual formatting. The problem has been identified, and we are actively working on a resolution. There is no impact to user data or functionality, this is strictly a front-end display issue. We’ll post an update once the fix has been deployed. Thanks for your patience while we get this sorted.

"We are releasing today SurveySimulator 1.13 for Apple computers running Mac OS X 10.4 or greater on an x86 architecture. Given the very small fraction of hosts registered that could possibly run this version (about 2% of all hosts), it is important that you report any problem you notice while crunching a WU on this platform. We will release soon more WUs to give you a good chance to test some.
This completes our effort of porting the main applications to the three main platforms. Now it's time for application enhancements, bugs fixing, and regular WUs.
As for support for Apple on PPC architecture: that represents today only 1/4 of all Apple hosts registered so far, or less than 1% of all orbit@home hosts. I don't think that I'm going to maintain a PPC version of the orbit@home applications. It's not justified by the numbers so far. But I keep this possibility open, as things can change in the future.
Support for the PPC architecture, as well as for all other architectures still left out, would probably be more adequate in the form of 3rd party contributions. All orbit@home code is available on the ORSA SVN tree, and for an experienced developer it should not be hard to port it to it's favorite platform."

I hope they get something good out of these compute errors!

I only get credits when another Linux system matches mine. Windows systems (either XP or Vista) get the points and Linux systems don't whenever the two meet.
There goes my TAS BOINC month!

I think you're right about that bug, Rudy. I just checked my results and on the ones that had results turned in by Linux machines along with my XP computer, only Windows machines got credit and the Linux machine(s) got zero points.

The past month was a good one for orbit@home. We have deployed and tested the SurveySimulator application on all major platforms, and all the bugs discovered so far seem to have been fixed. Thank you for reporting problems.
We're now working on the next version of the application, that differs mainly for the larger flexibility of scenarios that can be studied. This new version, likely version 1.20, is almost ready and we should start testing it by mid-May.
The state of the orbit@home project will be presented next Tuesday near Washington DC at the NASA AISRP PIs Meeting, a gathering organized by the NASA program funding this project, where all the principal investigators have a chance to discuss their work and further enhance collaborations and sharing of ideas.
A note on forum issues: all offending posters will be suspended for 2 weeks (first time offenders) or permanently (second time offenders). I really have no time to follow this, that's why I'll follow these strict rules. No volunteer moderators for now. BTW, is the "rating" function working? Isn't that enough to remove offending posts? Maybe something needs to be enabled server-side? Please test and let me know.
A note on the frequency of the updates: I post both here on the front page and on the forum. I do consider both to be updates, so please make sure to check the forum for more details on what happened between April 11 and today."

Hey all, most of my fleet has been shut down for the summer months - just the rigs at work still crunching. But I added Orbit to my primary workstation, so as soon as there's work to download it'll get started! 🙂
