Rumors from the rumor mill puts the GTX 780 @ 1024 CUDA cores /w 6B transistors which means it will "could" have 42% more transistors than the 7970 if there is any truth to be found here.
Where is the source of this information? From the link you posted:

Early next week Nvidia starts manufacturers in Asia to present graphic cards based on Kepler, when full production will start in two/three weeks from now.

It's time to say something new. The first news (if true)is breakthrough new feature for PhysX and CUDA through its processing. If this thing really confirmed, it will be a big bomb. Further information concerning the power consumption to be thanks to the final respin very low. Respin also helped NVIDIA achieve high operating GPU frequency. As for performance, still true that middle-class Kepler card easily beats Radeon 7970 ...

You've probably noticed that the ChipHell banned some users, trolls who allegedly worked for Nvidia. This is bullshit, why would Nvidia Trolls worked there and not just for famous US/EU forums ... it's all only comedy. PS. Banned by a "nApoleon" biggest TROLL there ...

Both those images are fake. So what is this thread about again? Something Orb is rambling about? I don't get it.

Rumors, nothing more.

Was it supposed to enlighten the world and bring peace on earth?

No.

All uppity over something that has little to no credibility.

Really excited for Kepler, they said they improved efficiency so I can't wait to see what they cooked up.

Still not getting these rumors of Kepler mid-range easily beating Tahiti XT. IMO, "easily" beating implies at least 15-20% faster since 5-10% is more like "barely". Has there ever been a next-gen mid-range part that surpassed the previous-gen halo card by 30-40% (15-20% delta between 7970 and 580 + 15-20% to cover "easily" beating)?

If the mid-range Kepler really does beat a 7970, then it's not going to be mid-range anymore. There's no way Nvidia would release a mid-range card that beats the competition's high end. If anything it will be labeled the GTX 680 (or 780 if they skip 6) and priced at the 7970 level or maybe slightly below if they want to steal some sales.

As for the "rumors" about performance (aka - random people blowing smoke out of their ass), hopefully we get some real news soon. I can't take many more of these threads full of hyperbole and bad photoshops.

AMD's high end is only 30% faster than the old 580. If a new Kepler mid-level car is 20-30% faster than the old 580, it could be on-par. That card for $300 would be awesome, and hopefully the high-end is REALLy fast.

It would be win/win for EVERYONE if NV does this. The 7950 and 7970s would drop in price and everyone could get a really solid card for $300 and a premium for more. Only AMD shills hope Kepler is a dud.

And this is how you start internet hype to dampen competition sales folks. Untrue rumors + fake slides + fake pictures + etc

That said, I hear Kepler has a cure for world hunger and AIDS

PS in the minor chance this is real I welcome it, show us the real goods nvidia

Well, eventually someone is bound to get it right. I feel like people are just throwing rumor darts at the specs board and post whatever their "findings" are.

Bam! Right in the middle!

It's just rumors...

I don't remember anyone caring about the 7970 performance rumors stifling 580 sales.

I remember gems like these:

I'm just saying people need to be aware they're just rumors, not facts. And while there is very little real value to be gleaned from them, it's still fun to speculate and have something new pass through.

A grain of salt should be taken for anything and everything not backed by actual proof. The 7970 had it's turn, now Kepler deserves, nay, earned it's turn to produce extravagant charts not reflective of actual performance.

Really Balla? CivV is the most pro-NV game out there (mainly due to AMD's driver lack IIRC).

Are we shocked that official AMD / pro-AMD sites/posters will use settings and games favorable to their point of view, and Nvidia will do the same?

I, for one, am eagerly waiting for Nvidia's newest releases in hopes that prices come down, at which point I'll buy whatever meets my needs at the price point I am willing to buy at.

Charlie via tweets and forum posts has implied that there is some new feature or features in Kepler that he hasn't disclosed yet, and presumably Nvidia will highlight that feature/those features to game devs and hardware reviewers.
