Journalists arrested for the crime of... journalism

Journalists Don Lemon and Georgia Fort taken into custody after Minnesota church protest

Lemon has repeatedly said he was present at the demonstration as a journalist, not as an activist. In a video of the episode that he posted to YouTube, Lemon said, “I’m just here photographing, I’m not part of the group… I’m a journalist.”

Fort made the same points in a Facebook Live stream when federal agents arrived at her home early Friday morning.

“This is all stemming from the fact that I filmed a protest as a member of the media,” Fort said before she surrendered to agents...

Performative lawfare ... Another distraction that will go nowhere. A fishing expedition to see what sticks.

"Arresting" somebody after the judge refuses to authorize the "charges" is basically kidnapping. When this case gets thrown out Trump/Maga will simply pretend it didn't happen.

If Trump didn't have his bought and paid for Supreme Court on his side... He would be in jail.

Nope, when it's thrown out MAGAs will double down and claim the judge that threw it out is a traitor who should be in prison. It doesn't matter how illegal something Trump does is, if a judge challenges him, they're a traitor.

i believe Iran has said something along the lines of - 'If Trump thinks he can carry out a quick operation and tweet two hours later that the operation is over, he is dreaming.A war will break out that will engulf the entire region"

Sounds like a fair amount of Euro companies will be slowly moving their techstack away from AWS, Azure and GCP.

Fully 61 percent of European CIOs and tech leaders say they want to increase their use of local cloud providers. More than half say geopolitics will prevent them from leaning further on US‑based hyperscalers.

There's going to be a performative attack on Iranian assets because Trump decreed it to be so. Billions of USD will be burned.

Trump administration will say some threat. Iran will respond with some threat back.

Iranian regime won't change. Protestor deaths will have amounted to little in the grand scheme of things.

GOTUS (Grifter of the...)

Trump’s Profiteering Hits $4 Billion

At the start of Donald Trump’s first term, he promised that he and his family would never do anything that might even be “perceived to be exploitive of office of the Presidency.” By contrast, his second term looks rapacious. He and members of his family have signed a blitz of foreign mega-deals shadowed by conflicts of interest, and they’ve launched at least five different cryptocurrency enterprises, all of which leverage Trump’s status as President to lure buyers or investors. Ethics watchdogs say that no other President has ever so nakedly exploited his position, or on such a scale. Trump recently explained to the Times why he cast aside his former restraint: “I found out that nobody cared.”...

What, President mush-for-brains didn't solve the imaginary problem he made up on the spot, with fake solutions that harm, not help, Americans?
Golly gee, who could have seen that coming?

I dont think this has anything to do with Trumps tariffs policies. They can easily say if no tariffs, the deficit would be much worse. They can also say the tariffs they are getting on rising imports can be put to good use by the govt.

As much a Trump critic as I am, imagine what would happen if they took off the 100% tariff on Chinese EVs. The entire US auto-industry would be toast in a few years (other than perhaps Tesla).

That said, in principle I dont like tariffs, and prefer free markets, but this may not be a politically expedient position to take by most govts.

While it might not be directly related to Trump's tariff it is almost certainly related to Trump... As an example and part of the issue is that there are entire industries such as defense where purchases that were going to made with USA companies are now going elsewhere.

It's uncertain what the exact cause is, but I can speculate on one: Boycotts are taking off everywhere. The #1 app of the moment in Denmark is one that helps boycott US goods, which may be the entire Trump Effect, including tariffs.

Between 8,000 and 10,000 people joined an emotional silent march in Copenhagen on Saturday organised by Denmark's Veterans' Association to protest Donald Trump's comments downplaying the role of non-US NATO troops in Afghanistan.

Even if they manage to kill the Ayatollah and a lot of senior regime figures whatever government emerges from that is still going to hate the US/Saudi and want nukes. They could have a full blown democratic republic but it will 100% be bristling with nuclear missiles like North Korea. We actually had this problem (preventing nuclear Iran) mostly solved in the Obama era but Trump decided he was smarter.

Melania's "documentary" has 11%/99% scores on RT. There will never be a movie with a wider critic to audience score lol. Here are a few reviews

2 from Critics:

And readers, I just took one for the team. Brett Ratner’s tasteless, tedious, criminally shallow propaganda puff piece “Melania” is nearly two hours of self-congratulatory torture. The film records the 20-day build-up to Donald Trump’s second inauguration from the perspective of First Lady Melania Trump, and I have no idea why she was okay with this movie being released, because Brett Ratner couldn’t find the humanity in a funeral.

I'd rather rewatch January 6th.

2 from audience:

A fantastic flick, our theater was sold out and erupted in applause and cheers at the end of the show. Melania is a wonderful human, a class act and America is blessed she is once again our First Lady. This behind the scenes sneak peek was so well done and such a wonderful watch. A must see.

Absolutely exceptional movie! Must see, so glad that I saw it on the first day that it came out. One of the best movies of my lifetime. I would highly recommend!:

I looked at my AMC for yesterday and today and 6 seats were the most I saw reserved for a showing. I'm struggling to imagine "sold out and erupted in applause and cheers at the end of the show." It makes me wonder how many of the 250 user reviews were from people who actually saw it.

i was checking out ratings and saw melania at 11/99% lol.

i have two theories:
1) tons of bots (despite verified accounts)
2) only trumpers are bothering to see the movie, and therefore it's getting positive audience scores

I doubt even Trumpers are sitting through it. Normal people that actually "took one for the team", said theater was essentially empty when they saw it.

I also see that IMDB shows no reviews. Probably blocking it because Bezos is doing this to grovel more before Trump.
