Again, lots of people would fail the "Who were the presidents in 2008 and 2020?" test.

The renovations in 2008 were also infrastructure issues identified by the Bush Administration, and requested through a normal, Congressional appropriations process.

The ballroom is a hideous idea, but it's made far worse by the extremely corrupt and no-oversight way that it is being done.

But why was there even a basketball court at the white house? Barack should have been fixing the country, not playing pick up b-ball games! Trump would never play basketball while the people of the country were in need.

I feel that it's a bit lost in all this is that harshly punishing an already demonstrably unhappy electorate to do things that are also very unpopular is ultimately not a good idea even if they got the Dems to cave.

Watching the demolishing of the iconic East Wing to put up his Epstein Ballroom without going through traditional procedures for approval really opened up some eyes as to how reckless and brazen Trump is wielding his dictator's wrecking balls. His blatant use of the authoritarianism he has been blessed with from his spineless Republican lackeys in Congress and the conservative majority in the SCOTUS is on show for all to see.

As an aside, I noticed in our neighborhood, city and state political forums there has been a total cessation of MAGAt bragging and chin jutting about Trump's "spectacular leadership qualities and intellectual prowess" along with the posting of all of his vague indeterminate self-described unverified undocumented accomplishments. Awww, gosh golly gee willikers slap me with a cast iron skillet, I wonder why that is.
