In a twofer this has also financially wrecked a lot of US farmers from whom the government bought commodities distributed by USAID. In short the program was actually three farm subsidies in a trench coat which happened to save many many lives.

Neera Tanden is doing a great job on the Ezra Klein podcast of calling a spade a spade with all the Republican lies. Not a hard job, I know, but repetition works well for the Rs so we might as well get into the act, but yes, it is preaching to the choir.
