I'm not, in principle, opposed to modification or expansion of the WH facilities (some indeed suck) but I'd just as soon not make it look like a cut rate Queens wedding hall your 2nd least favorite cousin is having her reception at.

Nothing says "Democracy" like a room that looks like a cheap knockoff of an Enlightenment-era monarch's palace.

LOL have you seen Democrats' popularity?

It's not going to be a big swing. 5 seats could easily be the difference.

Generic selection polling is a fucking stupid way to predict how 435 individual elections are going to turn out. Especially when every similar poll is also usually accompanied by an answer of "except my local congressman ..." of some variant.

Well Trump might get his wish for the Fed to start cutting but it's gonna be cause the labor market has actually stalled out.

Revisions to the last two months wiped out the gains and July's number is significantly below expectations.

That seems like a... substantial adjustment. Being off by an order of magnitude? Is that typical?

I was talking to a guy a couple weeks ago whose family decided to close and sell their previously profitable almost 100 year old manufacturing concern because of input tariffs and terrifying levels of uncertainty. Old dude running it had maybe another 5-7 years left in him before handing off to the next generation. Now they've cashed out.

Fed board gets to weigh that against what looks like a rapidly deteriorating labor market.

Is that why they held rates steady this week (yesterday), knowing about the job market? You do realize there are a lot of jobs that are being cut due to tax changes, or rather exemtions/classifications that have expired, right? Specially in the software, IT, and tech industery, not just what the asshole in the white house has caused.

No, they didn't have this info. Even if they had it I think they just say they will cut in September probably.

Yes they did, and they have said they will probably do cuts before and never do. They already said they would have cut interest rates already if it wasn't for Trump's Tarrifs. What does that tell you about what is the biggest influencer of the rates right now? It's not the job market. In fact, if you recall, they wanted the job market to slow, when they where raising interest rates. Which never happened until Trump took office.

Core inflation is trending upwards rapidly now, which is something they were probably looking at.

Well looks like the Corporation for Public Broadcasting is shutting down.

I think Republicans and much of the American public doesn't understand Chesterton's Fence, and they definitely don't understand that the systems that have made us all so prosperous didn't come to be on their own. People did stuff to make that happen through government spending and government agencies specifically set up to do these things.

Yeah. It was kind of charity that gave itself many times over and we know how charitable these pathetic repugs are. They just want to live like the kings of dark ages and watching misery all around them.

The GOP are advising Republicans to avoid town halls, which is a cowardly but somewhat crafty tactic. However, Byron Steil of Wisconsin decided to take a shot, and it didn’t go well.

Don't worry guys. Some Russian dude said something and now Trump is positioning Nuclear Subs around Russia. If Kamala was elected we'd all been vapourized Jan 20th....

I'm sure this will do wonders for business confidence. Don't like the statistics that come out, just fire the stars guy. Republicans just don't want to live in reality.
Next report we will have added eleventy billion jobs in one month. Most tremendous numbers ever, no one has had better numbers than Trump. Thank you for your attention to this matter.
