People will start to get tired and quit the US even if this means a massive brain drain like Russia is suffering.
Allegedly, from a later story, even this instance of funding hold-up was too much for the White House, and they turned the tap back on.

But yes, people will get tired of it, and either not come to the US for education (and stay for working), leave the country, or leave just research behind for other pursuits. Scientific research needs specific people: they aren't widgets that you can add in or remove easily by just randomly turning on and off funding; and research isn't something that can easily be started or stopped even if the people stay in place.

Sadly, no one else funds biomedical research anywhere close to what the NIH is doing.

Wait until China starts to move on it... and they have a little better tolerance with the disabled people than the current US (despite they had a disabled president!)

Unfortunately since the current regime in the WH likes to terrorize people who come to the US even with legal documents. I think potential foreign students are going to pick other places to go to school.

Cancer-getters need to just pay for research out of their own pockets, the important thing is billionaires keeping more money.
I am capitalist, but what the billionaires are doing is a MONSTRUOSITY, they are keeping the money out of the circulation, is like not allowing to correctly circulate blood. It will damage the economy hard in the long run.

If this is the generation that they think like kings instead of bussinessmen, we will be royally screwed by them.

It's kind of an inevitable end result of capitalism though, a few that are more successful in gathering wealth than others use that wealth to tip the scale in their favor, rinse and repeat, and then you end up where we are now. Now they burn the entire world and the future of humanity to make line go up.

Actually what they are pulling is not capitalism... is pure nepotism, is returning to the monarchies and that awful Middle Age era.

5 seats (maybe) isn't going to make or break a swing in '26. Especially considering the states that are considering a retaliation in the other direction if TX goes ahead with it.
There’s actually a chance this bites em in the ass. They will have to pull GOP votes from safer districts to water down dem districts. Miscalculate and they all go dem.

LOL have you seen Democrats' popularity?

It's not going to be a big swing. 5 seats could easily be the difference.

According to every MAGAt I've dealt with the Democrat approval rating is 18%, I have no idea where this number comes from. But like 5 different MAGAs have quoted me 18% so somebody put that number out and they're all running with it. I haven't bothered to Google it because 1. MAGAs are unreliable sources for any actual truthful data. And 2. 18% sounds like an impossibly low number.

I think the Democrats will do far better than the GOP, the only people I see saying otherwise are MAGAts. And most don't even believe Trump went to Epstein Island.

While I don't have any polling numbers, just using my intuition, the Democrats are more popular than the Republicans right now. MAGAs aside who the fuck is in support of Trump, Boebert, MTG, Jordan & Cruz? I have met a handful who claim they're not MAGAs but think Trump's no worse than if Harris had won. I don't know if it'll be a blow out by the Dems, but they should win a decent chunk of the seats.

But, 10 months ago I was laughing out loud at the idea that Trump stood a chance of winning, so who the fuck knows here. This somehow might turn into a fight, which doesn't say anything about Democrats because this should be a massacre :|
