Defiant CBS comes out swinging in $20 Bn Trump lawsuit - yay! Glad my confidence in 60 Minutes is being supported.

Of course he filed the original case in a northern Texas district, where there are like 2 conservative judges that have 4 brain cells between them and they're all stuck on "Trump good".

A comment to the story:

"The president had previously claimed the outlet edited the interview in such a way as to attempt to make him look bad to voters". They didn't need to edit anything to make him look bad. He was more than capable of looking bad without any help.

It’s only just beginning. Wait until unemployment spikes and people have nothing to do…

COlor me suprised but happy. Someone at CBS read a history book, appease these fucking dictator wanna bes and it's already over. You have a chance if you fight and lead by example. Resistance is the way.

The Trump approach to Ukraine, particularly when "explained" by Vance, strikes me as being exactly akin to a traditional gangster protection racket.

Give us an 'investment' in your business, and pay us a share of all your income, and we'll protect you from the other neighboring gangster outfit. Vance even says that explicitly, claiming that making sure our mobster boss has a financial stake in your business is the best way to ensure they will protect you (at least until we decide to burn down the whole place for the insurance payout)

Very good read. Thanks for sharing.

Explains a lot about Trump as a patrimonialist. This style of running things is a method that's quite simple, quite narcissistic and very devastating. It's a method that morons like Trump have to rely on because running things based on rules and ethics is too complicated for him to manage.

Yeah, that seems to fit. There probably is an explosion of crony-capitalism and general incompetence and corruption on the way.

Have to say i'm still hazy on what the distinction is between patrimonialism and absolute monarchy or some cases of despotism (most notably Mao's - the point of the cultural revolution was precisely the destruction of the state bureaucracy).
