It sure seems like the argument against DEI of “just hire the best people!” flies in the face of the fact that DEI is very effectively hiring the best people.

In particular it means higher prices and reduced services for rural areas, and low-population density states, i.e. Republican areas, compared to densely-populated urban areas, i.e. Democrat areas.
