lol loose nukes like we are some kind of newly post-soviet republic because Elon is a giant moron
What makes you think stealing nuclear weapons wasn't Musk's goal from day 1?
There's a reason this was step 2, after step1 was infiltrating the launch network with DOGE. All done immediately upon assuming office.

The Financial Times reports that Wall Street is confused as to how electing a Adderall infested dementia patient is turning out NOT being good for the stock market.

Where those executives in a coma through Shitshow Season 1? I know they saw the episode where they got a great big tax cut.

Professor Lysenko wants to tax marijuana and use the money to force Adderall/Prozac users to live on kibbutzes.

Does that mean Trump will be "farmed out"?

So how the fuck is RFK gonna tax a product that’s federally illegal? At the state level, where cannabis is legal to some degree in most places, there are a lot of taxes and fees levied by state governments. But federally it is still Schedule I. Let’s try taxing underground sales of cocaine and meth first and see how that works out. I am sure both sellers and buyers will be happy to cooperate lol!

Trump is speedrunning Napoleon now. Can we get to the “exiled in the south Atlantic” part? Trump does not have the mental capacity nor knowledge to have quoted Napoleon. Obviously, someone gave him the quote. He typed it off of some scrap of paper as ordered to.

There we go. Dishonest Don thinks he's saving America. The concepts of irony and hypocrisy are completely lost on Dementia Donnie, aren't they? When will The Heritage Foundation tell Trump to crown himself emperor of America? He thinks he is above the law. He (or Stephen Miller) is preparing America for his open defiance of court orders. Which is already happening in some instances.

What a weird scheme. Seems entirely detached from every other part of this administration's agenda. This is such a peculiar regime - a gang of very-tendentiously-allied crackpots and crooks and ideologues, each with their own particular dysfunctions and set of evil superpowers.

A whole slew of barely-related trends and tendencies in contemporary culture seem to have just come together with the shared project of overthrowing democracy.

I'm not a fan of SSRIs and antidepressants myself - been on just about every one they have for long periods over many decades, and found none of them did anything remotely positive, and several had nasty side-effects and withdrawal symptoms.

But lumping together people with substance addictions and those with the conditions for which SSRIs are prescribed is pretty weird for starters, and "wellness camps" just seems completely random and hard to fit with the rest of the Trump agenda (that seems to favor a very different kind of 'camp').

Unless of course the two things are going to blur into one, in a Dead Kennedys "California Uber Alles" kind of way. The Suede Denim secret police.

If I’m ever in trouble with the law I need to remember that quote. You can break the law so long as it’s to save the country and apparently the one breaking the law gets to determine whether or not that’s what yet are doing (this sounds right up the logic alley of the current Supreme Court).

Exactly. It's similar to what Goldwater said, "extremism in defense of liberty is no vice".

Those little quotes cut both ways.

It's a corollary of "history is written by the victors".

If any of the above are true, well...see my sig.

Seems to me there's nothing can save us but the courts. Trump 2.0 will bulldoze the constitution right into the ground unless the courts stop it. Injunctions would/could stop some things quickly. Enforcement will be an issue. Congressional funding may play a big part in all this. We are less than a month in. Where all this is going is impossible to predict. Maybe there will be something positive coming out of the chaos we're going to see if down the line some reforms develop that protect the nation from bad actors. We do need that badly.

He’s about to abuse his power in a way that he’s making excuses for.

I enjoyed this article that takes the long view of US history which shows that the period we were living in from maybe the 60s through last year was sort of an aberration from most of American history, unfortunately not real and lasting progress as many of us thought and hoped. More of an upswing in a cycle, as history rhymes with itself.

This served as a great synopsis of the very thick book I am trying to read, Illiberal America. And nice how the Salt Lake Tribune launders a NYT article with no paywall. :)

Trump has no idea where he is or what he's saying anymore. It's clear he can't think straight. “What did he say to ruffle them?”. “Well, I heard his speech. "You are talking about JD’s speech, right?”

Reporter: - "The vice president made a speech in Europe"
Trump: - "You mean JD?"
Reporter: - "Yes sir. Vance's speech ruffled quite a few feathers."
Trump: - "What did he say?"
Reporter: - "You don't know?"
Trump: - "You tell me."
Reporter: - "I'm not the President, you are."
Trump: - "I saw it."
Reporter: - "And?"
Trump: - "JD's speech, right?"
Reporter: - "Yes?"
Trump:- "What about it?"
Reporter: - "Do you agree?"
Trump: - "With what?"
Reporter: - "JD's speech."
Trump: - "I saw it."
Reporter: - "Oh for fucks sake ... Nevermind"

Like I've said. He's not there mentally. He's just a racist LLM that responds to local inputs.

A data-point for the theory that he is basically just a puppet.

I can't decide how they all relate to each other - is Trump the decrepit Hindenburg and Musk the Hitler figure, or is Trump the Hitler and Musk is the industrialist, foolishly bankrolling him in the belief he can control him?

Which of them is going to emerge on top?
