Um... that's literally every government ever. Constitutions and laws are just pieces of paper - they only have meaning if people believe they have meaning and act accordingly.

I reckon it goes further than that. Constitutions always depend on something outside themselves for their continued existence, as they always contain the mechanisms for their own subversion. You don't have to ignore or formally violate a constitution to undermine its spirit and purpose. They always have weak-spots that allow them to be unraveled without actually breaking them.

I really suspect it has some relation to all that Godel 'incompleteness theorem' stuff. It seems like an analogous phenomenon.

Oh my yes, and only 29k miles and I've not yet wrecked it! But I'm generally driving more daily due to METRO being preposterously unreliable and expensive, and my work-social life having changed a bit over the last year or so, requiring more fluidity in my mobility options.

Dealer called me last year to see if I wanted to trade it in, and I said I would do that if he had an MK8 R, manual, with the mk7 interior/steering wheal, buttons, etc. He did not. 😀

This is pretty much true. In the OSHA classes I’ve attended, the blue collar workers were always bitching about OSHA while the middle management types accepted that safety practices really do save the company money. Dead workers are cheap, maimed workers are hella expensive.
