Fort Liberty is Ft Bragg again. This time it’s named after a WWI private and not the Confederate general. <nudge, nudge, wink, wink>

How long before they find some obscure GIs named Jefferson Davis and Robert E Lee to name forts after?

If the name has to be that of a traitor, I suggest Fort Trump.

There might have been less opposition for the renaming if they would have just named them for worthy heroic Southerners. There are a few.

Fort Stevie Ray Vaughan?

GOP Rep. Gary Palmer (R- Alabama) Says ‘We Need To Remind’ Trump That ‘Congress Has a Role’

Lol! Not any more. They abdicated that when they declared Trump God Emperor. Representative FuckFace here surely supported the candidate who clearly cared not a bit about what role Congress would have during his reign. So, he can kindly go pound sand.

I think we are going to see this play out with the funding bill in March. Congress will flail around for a week or so. It will be a shitshow. Then the Project 2025 guys will present their own budget because they know they are smarter than those idiots. Trump and Musk will say “pass it or be primaried”. If Congress (and by that I mean the Republicans) do this, then they are no more than a rubber stamp for Trump. Maybe some of them would start to realize that it’s actually their jobs on the line and resist. Probably not, though. It really seems that a majority of the representatives have no idea what their job even is.
It's probably not quite that simple. The entire GOP has expressed fealty to Herr Trump, but that doesn't mean they love all of his asinine policies. Last I checked, the betting markets are pricing about a 50% chance of a federal shutdown during this year.

Trump really only has concepts of a budget plan, a bunch of expensive ideas that are unfunded and will explode the national debt. While Repugs are only mildly concerned about budget deficits, the Tea Party wing has threatened no deal if their slash-and-burn desires aren't met. IIRC Mike Johnson can lose only 1 GOP vote in the House if he wants to pass a budget.

To some degree, the GOP is so inept at governing that you should expect a shutdown as the baseline outcome.

Dementia addled Trump - “there’s some outside problem with eggs maybe”, groceries is an old fashioned word", groceries is an old fashioned word"

I’m sure he has never, ever set foot in a grocery store. He loves the word "groceries" because he just learned it several months ago and since he had never heard of it, it must be some old thing and he is impressing everyone by bringing it back.

BAIER: When do you think families would be able to feel prices going down?

TRUMP: "I think we’re gonna become a rich-- look, we’re not that rich right now. We owe $36 trillion. That’s because we let all these nations take advantage of us."

Lol! Time for bed Grandpa!
Remember when the media and social media parroted concern over Biden and whether he was all there mentally, but then ignored all the Trump warning signs?

With the thin House majority, I can't see avoiding a shutdown in March, maybe a long one. The thinner the majority, the more special each representative feels.

The word "sanewashing" was coined to describe how the press treated him, that will probably get at least a footnote in the history books.

As I said before the orange menace may very well have tertiary syphilis.

She's a certified medium so she will conduct the interviews.

I wish Anthony Bourdain, George Carlin, and Bill Hicks were around to give us some commentary of the simulation that feels like an episode of fascist animaniacs.

She is just one crazy person.

Perfect Florida woman for congress.

Well, I was lying there unconscious, feeling kind of exempt.

Lol!, but…he took a QUIZ! If you didn’t have time to do your research, maybe you should have MADE time to do your research! Sucks to be you!

I wonder if the quiz started of with, “Would you prefer a candidate who is a totally reprehensible dishonest conman?” or “Do you believe an insurrectionist should be President?”
Many, many moons ago I had a theory for an election process that was different from our own. A series of yes/no questions would be developed (a lot, like 100+), that any given candidate would answer based on their agenda, personal thoughts, or intentions. They'd cover things like international relations, domestic support, crime, immigration, etc. Basically everything. For elections, the constituents would answer the same questions and their vote would go to whatever candidate best aligned with their choices. No campaigning, no charismatic despots, no race, color, gender, religious alignment, etc. I still think it's a good idea.

Post election we could publish the candidates' choice sheet, and at the end of the term they could be scored based on how closely their actual actions matched their sheet. Or better yet, after each year, maybe if it's misaligned by more than 25%, they just get auto-impeached.

Trump and Musk surreal, weird, rambling oval office presser. Musk awkwardly Defends DOGE. The President finally has a presser. But what was Trump doing there?

Lol! Look at Trump's face. Dude has no idea where he is! “What am I signing? What’s Leon doing here?”

Man!, Musk has negative charisma. That spiel is utter nonsense. Deranged Donnie just couldn’t help himself, barging in every so often to crank Musk’s lunacy up to an eleven.

Not one example of government fraud has been revealed. Sure, we've gotten statements about fraud from a guy who lies about everything, but no proof of anything. No one looks for financial fraud with High School Intern Coders. No one! Neither of them is an accountant nor have they ever conducted audits.

Unelected bureaucrat rages against unelected bureaucrats.

Peak Maga.

Hegseths emergency 100K paint job, where's DOGE?

Trump's Super Bowl attendance: $15 to $20M. Where’s DOGE?"

Any receipts Mr. President Musk? Of course not.

No one is more dependent on government money than Musk and his companies. SpaceX and Tesla alone have taken over $15 billion.
The guy who single-handedly cut the value of Twitter in half through sheer weirdness, has the full faith of the six-time bankrupt felon to save the nation's economy. What the fuck could go wrong?

Love this.
The Warren Commission had seven members, all of whom are dead, as are the majority of counsels who worked on it. Also deceased are the doctors at Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas – Charles Baxter, Robert McClelland, and Malcolm Perry – who examined Kennedy when he was brought in after being mortally wounded. Later that day, an autopsy was performed at Bethesda Naval Hospital by Drs. James Humes and Thornton Boswell, who are also dead.
In further developments, I'm also being informed that Generalissimo Francisco Franco can proudly count himself among the still dead.

Republicans are going to shut down the government because they can't govern. Yet another Republican shutdown.
I'm guessing that if people were turned off long enough by government that does not meet their needs, like the needs of the average voter instead of people who finance campaigns, they might just decide that no government that will not serve anybody is a better bet. If petitioning for the redress of grievances fails to work, the degree of grievance will grow and grow and grow exploding in a mass psychosis. It's not nice to fuck with human nature.

This is what senior elected Ds have been increasingly trying to say. Every time the question comes up they should respond "Republicans are in the majority, it is their job to fund the government. Thank you, next question." Just repeat it over and over and nothing more.

That's what I've seen them say, from Jeffries, to Schumer, to AOC...

There are some in the media trying to prepaint it as a "Democrat shutdown" though (eg, Politico), because so much of the media is in the tank for Republicans.

The average voter knows fuckall about what anything does, and doesn't understand what the government is doing for them.

Never understood the adoration of naming things after Confederate generals? There's obviously a place in our history to remember this stuff (museums, etc), but naming military bases after it?

Wasn't that long ago that this country only seemed to root for winners. Michael Jordan can get a statue or something named after him. But do you see the people he dunked on get similar treatment? Of course not.
