Why is everyone popularizing the r word again? I thought we left that behind in the 90s
We grew up with it. It is our ONLY word used for stupid. Because stupid is too kind, too bland.
We used R very often.

Just as it will NEVER be "Gulf of America", you're not teaching old dogs new tricks.
And objection to it was never heard of until at least the 2010s. It's a very recent banning.

Joined the fednews subreddit, some interesting stuff. Definitely seems to be a group who are feeling more resolved to stay than take any sort of this fake buyout.

But then they're all the stories of those who are. It's obvious that whoever's left will have to do all the other jobs. So the smaller team will have the same workload.

They suspect that after March everyone that takes the so-called deal will stop being paid cuz that's when they put the new budget forth.

They also suspect that a lot of them are going to have their jobs gone with the next budgets eventually. The whole goal here is to simply destroy the federal government and outsource a lot of stuff.

Thanks to Joe Biden and the Democratic leadership the last few years there is a good chance there will be not much of a federal government to come back to in 4 years if that's even possible, because They were the only thing standing in the way of the fucked up country we live in, the fucked up people, and the fucked up media. And they fumbled the ball. They were our only hope.

The buyout is a scam. No one should take it and expect to get paid.

Legality: Some initial reports described the Trump plan — or is it the Musk plan? — as if it were a simple buyout, which immediately raised the question, where would the money come from? Congress hasn’t voted funding for a mass worker buyout, and the president doesn’t have the right to spend money without Congressional authorization.

The “administrative leave” language was probably intended as a way to get around that little problem. But someone didn’t do their homework. The law appears to make it clear that federal employees can be placed on administrative leave for no more than 10 days in a calendar year.

He's starting of strong, only golfing 18% of the time so far

Trump visited a Trump Organization property on 428 of the 1,461 days (30%) of his first presidential term and is estimated to have played 261 rounds of golf, one every 5.6 days.

Seems that the NSF is still impounding funds, and potentially going to violate the law and granting agreements as they arbitrarily review funding awards. To top it off, post docs that are paid via the NSF are currently not being paid because their funds are on hold.

Canadians and Mexicans are issuing their own threats if Trump proceeds with tariffs.

Trudeau says: "All options are on the table".

Sheinbaum says: such action would "Put Aside" the USMCA.

They should coordinate their responses for maximum effectiveness. Like turning off the oil from Canada and closing all Mex border crossings into Texas.

Danielle Smith stands in the way of that happening.

Trump violating the deal he made after blowing up NAFTA is surely going to entice Canada and Mexico to the negotiating table.

America won't be respected. China's leadership is just so fucking happy.

And doing so for non-economic issues. There is no incentive large enough to enter an agreement with this administration because he'll just break it whenever it suits him for whatever reason. This is also why the responses to his trade war moves should be more than just retaliatory tariffs. Targeted countries need to bring the pain to the US.

Canada should remove all Trump branding in Canada and replace it with a golden toilet

Exactly - or at least no incentive to enter an agreement unless the US is paying up front. Our word is now worthless and this carries on beyond Trump because as I've said in the past even if we get a sane president in the future every deal we try to make will have a 'but what if you elect another Trump' clause either implicitly or explicitly and it's going to cost all of us.

Also, who becomes future leaders in these countries? Young legislators who are currently witnessing all this bullshit.

Trump is doing a great job fostering anti-American sentiment that is going to payout over decades.

Even British Tories aren't right-wing enough for the American fascists (I'm not particularly a fan of Rory Stewart)

...And what's with the weird quibbling about IQ?

he accused the former British politician of believing he has an IQ of 130 “when it is really 110”

(Generally believing in IQ as some sort of coherent, meaningful, measurable trait, is a sign of being a bit dim. But why such specificity? "You think you have an IQ of 125, when really its only 124" Next he'll be suggesting Stewart isn't any good at Diablo)

Not to mention his odd take on Christianity

“There is a Christian concept that you love your family and then you love your neighbour, and then you love your community, and then you love your fellow citizens, and then after that, prioritize the rest of the world.”

I mean, there probably is a defensible philosophical argument for adopting that attitude, but it seems a stretch to claim that it's a specifically "Christian" concept. For one thing, I thought Christ called on people to leave their families in order to follow him?

Some of the absolute weirdest people you will ever meet in your life are adult converts to Catholicism.

They should do what they did in the past but more strongly. Tariffs to products which are shipped to red states only.
