Orange County (OC) members - Any tips for restaurants near The Pond? *Update*

Going to a concert at 8PM on Thursday of this week. Looking to get into Anaheim around 5 to leave time to eat. I am looking for recommendations from locals. I would prefer not to go to chain restaurant like BJ's, Chilis etc., though if necessarily, it's an option.

I don't want a place that we have to take the freeway to get to. The idea is that traffic is probably going to be really bad around that time (5-7) and we don't want to risk being late for the concert.

Cuisine - Most anything would work - Italian, Japanese would rank at the top. American is fine.

Price - $25 tops per person. Not looking for a fancy steakhouse but don't want to eat at a deli either.

Some recommendations of local favorites would be nice. Something that Anaheim is famous for.

By the way, The Pond is located at 2695 E Katella Ave.

Hope you guys can help me out. This is really important.

Update - Ended up going to King's FIshhouse. It's the House that Seafood Built 🙂 Anyway, everything we ordered was superb. Just excellent really. Service was a bit slow because they were so busy, but the food was excellent. And it literally is a mile away from the Pond. You could even park there and walk to the Pond if you wanted.

Oh and it was more than I originally allocated. $74 for two people with tip.

I think there are restuarants inside the pond, and are supposed to be pretty good. I dont know how much they charge/rip off though.

For Japanese go to Kojis at the block. Its not in Anahiem its just down the 57 and theres other things to do at the Block too.

for buffet, i would suggest Onami, located at the Laguna Hills Mall on the El Toro exit off the i-5-- they have a fantastic selection of fresh sushi as well as sashimi, lobster, etc... all you can eat 🙂 As for Italian, I can't really think of anything beyong Macaroni Grill, and that really ain't that spectacular. I'm sure other people can be more helpful in this area~

Thanks guys. What do you think of King's Fish House?

Very good if you're into raw oysters and seafood. Nice atmosphere, but there is good wait during peak hours.

I think you might be looking over $25.00 per person if you get booze and try the oysters plus your dinner.

Seeing TSO are we? Anyway, Rainforest is pretty good. I ate there a while ago before heading over to Halloween Haunt.

Damnit, I thought I had King's Fish House all figured out. It's ok if it's a bit over $25. I love food and so does she.

How far is The Block from The Pond?

Nutbucket - You got the TSO part right. Really excited about it. Have been waiting for a very long time for it to come.

Any other ideas?

Block isn't very far at all. Its at the 55/5 interchange.

If you like good German food there's a place called Gustav's Jagerhaus. Very quaint and family like atmosphere. Simple yet clean surroundings etc and not that expensive $12-20/person. I love this place for the change of pace dinner.

Is it possible to take surface streets between the block and the pond? Or do I have to get on the freeway?

Which way are you coming from?

If you're coming from LA, you can stop by this Teppan Steakhouse/Sushi place called Karuta off the 91/Beach. It fits your price range and is pretty good

I have no idea. I'm not an OC expert😉 Maybe you could take harbor to katella? Not really sure.

I work at the block, and can second the suggestion of Koji's. Also there's a decent place right across the street from the Pond (forget the name).

To get to the Block at Orange, leave the Pond, turn right on Katella. Turn left at State College. Keep driving until you see it. There's also a TGI Friday's if you want a louder atmosphere.

I need to get from the Block to the Pond. So I guess reverse your directionsd?

If I go to the block, the exit is State college right? So eat at the Block, turn right onto State College (going away from the freeeway onramps), Make a right on Katella? Is that right? Correct me if I am wrong.

What is the price range for Koji's?
