Orange County Choppers

I just watched a new episode of American Chopper last night and was surprised by their
moving to a new shop. I thought it was very funny the way they left the old shop in tatters,
but I'm very afraid that the new shop just doesn't have the same feel as the old shop and
I think it might change the whole feel of the show. I'm not a Biker, or even in to motorcycles
or Hotrods for that matter, but the big difference between the shows American Chopper and
American Hotrod for me was the fact that OCC was run out of a dinky shop, that even though
it kept growing, still felt low key and homely..... whereas the Coddington shop always seemed
so slick and corporate............
Any thoughts???

I agree, and whats up with the History channel and the show full throttle? I guess they sold it based on they give a brief history of the cars they are upgrading. :disgust:

It is a repeat, they have been in the new shop for awhile. The acoustics and the camera work has changed the show, reminds me more of American Sh!trod now.

It may have been a repeat, but it was the first I've seen it. They were finishing up the Shelby
Cobra Bike. They started it in the old shop and halfway between they moved everything to the
new shop and trashed the old one........ I think you are right about it feeling more like the other
show now, but I hope I'm wrong....... I wan't to see them show the day Ewan Mcgregor and
Charlie Boorman from the LONG WAY ROUND came by the last day of their trip.....

That show never did anything for me. The guys on there just don't have any kind of presence on camera. Not like Sr. Now there's a guy with presence!

American Hotrod: "i'm mad at you, please fix that"

American Chopper: "You better get to work or you'll be wearing my size 14!!!"

That new shop is HUGE - I couldn't believe how big it looked. They must be doing mad business to need something that size.

It was pretty funny to watch Sr. destroy the old office with his Expedition - gotta be nice to be able to afford something like that 😀

Edit: Almost forgot - that cobra tank they made for the Shelby bike was AWESOME - I didn't see it last week, did Vinny make that?

As for the American Hot Rod guys - they just seem like assholes. The OCC guys can be bastards too - but I get the feeling they're acting for the camera. I saw one episode where an intern went in and thanked one of the higher-ups for the chance to intern there since it was his last day - the guy basicly told him he was worthless as an intern and told him not to let the door hit him in the ass on the way out. The owner seems to drive away the builders too - I've only see a couple episodes but twice already I've seen guys quit because they couldn't get along with him.

I saw an episode of American Hot Rod where they were helping this punk kid build a classic car from scratch, giving him all the tools and parts he needed. It was done in a build off format where he was racing the staff to see who could finish first. Anyway, he was a total jerk and even resorted to sabotaging the staff's car. Then he was late to the car show where he was going to get parts bought for him by Coddington.

It wasnt vinny it was the other guy not jr either.. the guy that they only show once in a while...

anyway ya.. I dont usally like alot of thier bikes... but the supercharged Cobra bike was freaking PIMP as sh1t...
did you see them blow the motor on the dyno though casue of no oil pressure.... that was some funny stuff... could nto beleive they would beat a bike like that with no breakin...
and well.. guess they wont again... BOOOOOOOOM!!!!! one 8000.00 bike motor in the trash...
broken piston... broken cylinder every valve in the motor bent...
literally trashed a bike that never even got to be ridden...
dumbassses..

Heh, I rather like the new shop, actually. Their main operation at the previous one was metalworking, and that business needed the additional space. That and I suspect that a dirt parking lot isn't exactly conducive to the survival of showpieces. Personally, they could be working in a garbage dump and it wouldn't change anything for me, but it sure helps that they have hella new toys to play with and we won't have to sit through any of Sr's "WTF I can't find this" tirades for a few episodes (approximate time it'll take them to trash the new place)

Oh man, no I didn't 🙁. Fell asleep after they blamed the lack of oil circulation on the heavy-cold oil. Sounds like there was more than just that causing it.

So did they miss their deadline? Ironic if they did - considering how Sr. said they've never missed one before earlier in the show.

I guess I just have to get used to it, the new shop that is. I think they will keep the same crew on the Theme Bikes, and that will be cool. I'm glad that it seems like they are using Rick more and more, and I wish they would give Campo some more exposure. I just liked the way that the old shop went from a crowded downstairs, to a new, more open upstairs, then an even more open upstairs, and then they just went through and destroyed the entire inside of the place. So is the Orange County Iron Works staying in the same place as the old shop in Rock Tavern, or did they pick up and move along with OCC? And also, has anyone ventured up to the store they have set up over in Montgomery, NY???? I would love to go see it sometime.....
