Opty 165 from newegg

I just acquired a 165 from newegg (for a hefty premium as most of you might know) and was just wondering if I completely was stupid for buying it from there. Is anyone buying the retail 165's from them and if so, is there anyone that's having good luck with them?

I would wait to see for myself but curiosity is killing me and was hoping to find out before I received it physically.

NewEgg has the lowest price among reliable vendors. You could have saved $25 by going with antaresdigital.com, but then you're gambling as to whether or not you'll get the correct item, a used/refurbished item--or any item at all!

That's a pretty damned glib comment IMHO 😉

I ordered mine from Multiwave for the "low" price of $309 on Monday night at about 11pm PST. Got it yesterday at 4pm or thereabouts paying $6.60 or so for 2day shipping (useless since I'm 45 miles away, but it was only $0.60 more than ground).

Newegg is nice and all, but not the be-all and end-all of online shops. Yes their policies and attitude are hard to beat. But frequently their prices aren't. And after nearly 10 years of using Multiwave, I'm more than happy to give them my business.

The $36 I saved sure makes me happy =D

Yeah used MWave back in 96-00, but switched to newegg shortly after. Was just wondering if anyone was having any luck with the newegg retail procs and what their stepping was.

newegg has been pretty expensive on the popular stuff.
i would think the same chips they have are same ones being sold for cheaper at
mwave, zzf, monarch.
