Hi,
I am getting the following the following error signs when I execute DV2Flash.exe

Error
---------------------------
CDdrv: Unknown error while starting CDDRV driver service.

Followed by:

Error
---------------------------
CDdrv: Does cddrv.SYS exist in your \System32\Drivers Directory?

Does anybody here have this problem and what did you do to fix it?

Btw, my current firmware is v2.09 and I am using windows XP

thanks
Kamui

I read somewhere that the firmware program causes an error in WinXP but it does infact update the firmware. I think I read that in one of the newegg reviews. Check it out.

if your current firmware is 2.09, just stick with that, thats what i'm using and i've never had a problem burning a dvd yet in 2 months.

Same thing happened to me, just ignore the error and flash it anyway. I flashed to 2.16 fine.

how did you check if the flashing was performed correctly? I looked into Nero's Info tool and also the small flashing utility and they both display 2.09 (original firmware) even after trying to flash to 2.16

Cheers,

After flashing the drive to 2.16, how did you deal with the R2 firmware issue? Win2k tells me it won't play DVDs until I make the hardware change back to R1. Is there a free way around this, or do I have to suck it up and make the change within windows?

Thanks!

dont flast the 2.17 firmware, it will really f**k everything up. Optorite is warning people to stick with 2.16 or earlier until newer firmware is released.
